Did you make all these? My mother used to do the same, all sorts of different tapestries and embroideries. You do them well and I am sure it helps keep you from becoming more depressed. Sue
Yes sue ,my mum used to do these as well she did some intricate ones and when she passed away my sister claimed them .
I have just logged back in to see how everyone is doing ? and have been reading your posts sue , I see you are going to try some watercolour ?.
I have just literally finished a background sky wash for a watercolour I am trying out at the moment.
If you remember sue im doing an art course ?, its going pretty well and last week the tutor made a remark about an exhibition that's coming up, and that I should think about putting something up for it .
Took me by surprise actually, but I think he's happy with what I do, only trouble is I cant get out at the moment to source the right kinds of paper etc. for the watercolour, so I have to let things dry and use a layering method.
Didn't think I would get on with watercolour but I have done about four pictures up to now since last Friday!.
I Think the best one is of the sultan ahmet mosque in Istanbul which took me about three hours to do yesterday afternoon.
If I can work out how to post the pictures I will do it , as I would appreciate any imput.
Pete xx.
Sorry, I hadn't remembered, it takes me ages to remember people's names and I tend to answer posts without hardly looking at the names of the people who have written them. About the art - that all sounds good Pete. I know I will never want to do conventional watercolours as it is too chocolate-boxy for my taste but I am wanting to learn to play around with watercolours and inks, especially doing very vibrant and abstract paintings which is what I have tended to do in oils and acrylics. Hope it all goes well for you. Suex
Very nice ambuna.
pete .
thank you.i have never been able to draw or paint and admire anyone who does so.my dad used to paint in oils.i used to spend a couple of hours every evening after work cross stitching.started when I worked in newsagents and cross stitch magazines came on sale.was hooked.i used to knit and make my own clothes.and have just started knitting againtho mostly baby stuff.
talented people are those that can draw and paint -I cant do neither.my dad was the artist and painter and my mum the dressmaker and knitter.and those thta design cross stitch, havent designed pictures btu have done birth wedding samplers etc fro friends family and work colleagues-some from charts/kits some made up from books
