Hi Duncan,

I know how this illness can be frustrating. It takes away all our energy and makes us feel totally useless. Im just sat thinking what to do today as Im off work with this illness. I feel a fraud too as people always tell me they feel the same but they carry on with life normally. I told my wife I was a good actor at hiding my feelings in front of other people and she said that she does the same. That made me cross as her feelings are different to mine. Im not saying that my moods and feelings are worse than hers. Lifes not a competition to see who has the worse feelings. It is all about how we cope with those feelings that life throws at us.

Hope this makes sense. I think when you referred to depression as an 'illness' that is correct to call it that but people dont see it as an 'illness'. Im off work with depression which is no different to someone being off work with a broken leg. It is just peoples ignorance to the 'illness'

David.

I can relate to what you have put Golfer. This sort of thing makes one feel very misunderstood and dismissed, so I do understand. :)

Hi Golfer, No one can really understand how another person feels on the inside, whilst we cannot truly know how another feels we can empathise with them, to say we feel the same as someone else isn't putting the other person down but trying to let them know they aren't alone. Yep, there are a lot of people who don't see depression as an illness, that is their perception and their ignorance. Rise above them, forgive them and release the feelings they create, you are unique, get out in the sunshine (when we have it lol), do things that make you feel good.
