It doesn't matter how many people say they love you, if you can't love yourself.

Very true!!! a friend loaned me a book called "Love Matters" fascinating insight!

Hi Plaits

Thats a very intersting point you have made. I dont think I've ever loved myself.

I must go onto Amazon & have a look for the book you mention Aurora.

Jackie :) xx

Hi

Sorry but I mis-typed in my rearlier reply.

I think what you say is true, but that paradoxically we are only able to love anyone - ourselves or others - to the extent that we have been loved by others. To be genuine self-love has to be based upon feeling gratitude for what the love we have been given, otherwise it is an empty kind of love which becomes a me, me, me attitude and in the end feels empty. We need love in order to learn how to love. That's my view. I feel lucky at the moment because I am realising someone has been there caring supporting me for over 20 years, many of them unpaid for doing so, and now I'm realising how important that has been to me. I'm beginning to learn to feel gratitude and love for myself.
