Blood in stool

Hi thanks so much for taking the time to read my post.

So yesterday I went out with my Mrs and had some strong stomach pains, I instantly felt like I needed the toilet. I went to toilet and had a bad case of diarrhea, upon wiping I realised the toilet tissue had blood on.

I then looked in the bowl and saw other bits of blood. Naturally, this freaked me out so I called NHS 111 and they advised me to go into A&E and have it checked out.

I went in and they did my blood pressure and took my bloods, after a few hours I finally get seen to which the Dr then says everything is fine with my Bloods and he isn't too concerned, asked if it could have been a takeaway I had recently or even could be an infection of my stomach lining.

Basically he didn't seem concerned at all. But surely there should have been other tests?

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any help appreciated thanks

It might be helpful to get an emergency appointment with your GP and ask whether a FIT Test would be helpful in your case.

I was told by my doctors that the likely cause was hemorrhoids, worst case there's something wrong like colon cancer. You can have a rectal exam where a doctor looks to see if they can find a hemorrhoid. Also a colonoscopy is the standard test. I had no other symptoms until suddenly I would feel like I needed to use a toilet, had lower abdominal pressure and cramps. Occasionally had bright red blood on toilet paper. If your stools are dark or black that can mean you have upper GI bleeding and the blood is old. Bright red is lower GI bleeding usually. Anyway I had surgery to remove the hemorrhoid which was a very painful recovery but worth it. Now I don't worry about the symptoms I was having. If you go this route a general surgeon can do it. It takes about 6mo to heal.
