Muffled hearing after smoking?

I am a nineteen year old male who has been smoking for a few years now - I smoke around five to eight cigarettes a day and sometimes my hearing goes off. I am not completely sure if it has anything to do with smoking but I think it happens more often then. It feels like hearing goes muffled for a second, especially If I hear a loud noise or bump into something. It only really happens during or after the cigarette but can also happen at random without the smoking. Sometimes also get this feeling where my hearing goes muffled in each ear, back and forth for a momment - any clue anyone?
