Hi Paul I’m so sorry to hear how you’re feeling. Given what you say it’s understandable how you feel. Have you any professional support. I understand it might be difficult to express your feelings to your parents for fear it may come across as ungrateful, and I’m sure they are doing their best for you.

Hi Paul, there's nothing wrong with loving silence, it's often my best friend, and I am terrible at small talk. If I conversation has no meaning, I quickly feel uncomfortable or tune out. Life can be full of all kinds of pain, and it sounds like your neck and back pain may have limited your options and left you more isolated, but you can still connect with people.

Don't try to connect via the ways the world says, but via the things that have meaning to you. Books you read, shows you watch, games you might play. Don't try to conform to the world, find what matters to you, and then share that with people, and you will see that the world begins to shrink as you find people you can connect with and empathise with.

Find what your passionate about, don't try to fit into a checkbox of society, reach out with the things that have meaning to you and I promise you someone out there will reach back
