Sorry to start another conversation about circumcision here, but I'm stressing out of my mind over it right now. I'm 26 and like a lot of guys I suffer from phimosis and have done for my entire adult life. I'm booked in for a circumcision on the 9th of April so not long now and I'm terrified! The sensitivity of my head (the small part of it that I'm able to see) is unbearable, so I'm struggling to accept that it will sort itself out a few weeks after the op and I'm panicking that I may be about to inflict months and years of agony on myself!
I've tried the creams and the stretching to no avail and currently there is no pain, I'm just not able to have sex without a condom, which has been fine up to now, however, my fiancee would like to try for a baby in due course and thinks it's best to get this issue out of the way as soon as possible, so that it's not a problem when the time comes, which I agree. It's just why do now what I can do in a year right??
So my question being, those of you who were in a similar situation and got a circumcision because of it, would you still do it again knowing how you feel now? How painful is it? And how long for the sensitivity to sod off?
Many thanks!! Hope you all have a nice weekend.

I am now 9 weeks post op. Like you I had severe phimosis as long as I can remember and i'm 36 now. Just couldn't go to docs as I'm overweight and have a small dick so was mega embarrassed. I have 2 daughters, 10 and 7. Mine was so tight it used to split and bleed every time I had sex and was painful. I was in hospital a total of 5 hours for the opportunity including recovery from the general anaesthetic. First few days was quiet sore and uncomfortable but nothing really painful. I healed quiet quick. Was able to masturbate extremely gently from day 10. Normal sex from day 27. The sensitivity of the head takes a few weeks to calm down but again, nothing too bad. So pleased with the end result. Looks good and healthy and sex is absolutely amazing. Everything feels so much more intense.
You'll be fine.
Press on my name and have a look through the many posts and pics I made throughout my journey. It may help put your mind at rest.
Feel free to PM me on here if you want to chat mate.
I'm 3 weeks post op and suffered from Phimosis like you and let me say that it was the best decision i have ever made, the first couple days will be uncomfortable due to sensitivity but after 3 or so days you should notice that it's getting easier and easier to do things like walk go to the toilet etc. I was also worried about pain but I didn't find it painful, just uncomfortable, after a few days but you will notice when its healing because it becomes ichy and you'll feel very slight tightning around the stitches, nothing to worry about it just means that it's healing.
There is nothing to worry about just follow what the doctor tells you to do and ask them whatever is on your mind, what you want to know about the surgary, what you need to do after you go home.
I can't stress enough too keep it clean though because lets be honest who wants a dirty dick
Thank you Daz81 and 18KR for your replies! It's much appreciated and does put my mind at ease a little. I'm trying to put together a shopping list of things to get before I go, anything you can add?
Tight underwear as in briefs/boxer briefs and not boxers so your penis doesn't move around. Not tight as in, you have to hold your breath to fit in, that won't be good :).
Medical vasline + a gauze which you will use to cover your penis head.
If you're in the US get neosporin as well. Chamomile tea a good idea too.
Salt was the main thing. I used tons of it. I didn't use any dressings. My dressing fell off before I left the hospital and I never replaced it. Let us know how it goes for you mate. You'll be fine!
I could write a long response like other people do but it wouldn't really make much of a difference so I will keep it nice and short. The only thing I regret about getting a circumcision is not having it done a lot sooner.
Like you I had severe phimosis, leading up to my procedure I was so nervous, I didn't know what to expect, pain wise, recovery. I was put to sleep, woke up and was fine regarding pain, for the first week I stayed home, I wore cheap underwear with a buttoned hole in the front, I kept my penis out at all times and was applying polysporin on the wound every 3-4 hours, and was icing as well to bring the swelling down and control erections. Night time erections will catch you off guard and will be painful, try not to drink anything after 6pm to keep your bladder empty this will minimize your erections.
Keep applying the polysporin until your stitches are gone and use Vaseline on the head to keep it from sticking to your underwear, I wore tight underwear to keep it in place and minimize any rubbing, but wear loose pants.
Cleaning the wound and stitches I used a natural soap bar and used my hand to pour water to rinse, I took normal showers but was careful to not get the stitches to wet, I gently patted it dry, applied my polysporin, put my penis through the cheap underwear and watched TV.
Don't stress out it'll be just fine, it's uncomfortable more than anything.
I’m 17 and 4 months post op and I’m so glad I did it everything’s been so much better and more satisfying since. The first few days were fine during the day but nocturnal erections are the most painful things for the first I’d say around 4 days and then the sensitivity is bad after that but wear a gauze with loads and loads of Vaseline on it everyday! When you aren’t outside I’d reccomend not wearing any bottom layer of clothes to try and get the sensitivity to go down as wearing the gauze with Vaseline all the time isn’t good for the sensitivity.
Hope everything goes well for you and just post any questions you have in here and you’re sure to get an answer!
Good morning all, thanks for all the replies guys!! Well, today’s the day... So so nervous and not sure if I’m making the right decision, 5 hours to go.. Wish me luck 😬
It’s all done, was an absolute nightmare!! The surgeon took too long on someone else and decided he was leaving before my surgery! Sat in a room on my own for more than 3 hours whilst they found a new surgeon who could “squeeze me in” 🙄🙄 That did not help with the anxiety let me tell you.. So glad it’s over, not much pain currently but it’s still numb so I’m expecting more later. Thanks for your advice, any other tips for the first few days?
Oh no! Not what you needed. Only advice is to keep it clean and dry.
Definitely don't think about anything sexual and don't panic if you wake up with a painful hard on where it feels like your dick is going to burst and rip stitches. All perfectly normal!
Oh, and sit down to piss for the first few days as it may well go anywhere and everywhere!
Drop me a message if I can help you with anything.
Okay so it’s been about 48 hours and my god it’s horendous! How have any of you done this? Feeling so hopeless and pathetic right now haha! The bandage ripped off 15 hours after the surgery and it’s been bleeding since, the pain is unbearable and the erections feel like the little guy will explode... Someone come bash me on the head please so I get more than 10 minutes asleep? Thanks 🙏🏼
Mine kept bleeding first 3 days. Some advice is after the 48hrs let it get some air. It is best if it dies out and bleeding stops. The unfortunate part is without the bandages you will swell up. Swelling is part of the healing process. I am on my second week and the hypersensitivity drove me past crazy now.
What I am currently doing is cutting a small piece of plastic wrap enough to just cover glands but not incision, add some Vaseline and cover head. after 10 minutes it will feel some much better. The plastic wrap is because it doe snot absorb the Vaseline, like bandages. Also helps because it does stain my underwear. (note, I have to remove this when I pee.)
I was circumcised in November last year at 23 years old.
No I would not do it again on the fact that it’s pretty uncomfortable and the first week is horrible I’m not going to lie.
The nightmare erections the first week wake you up nearly in tears.
But once a week has past it’s gets better and better the first week is the worst. You will not regret it and you will be surprised just how quickly you recover.
If you need any advice I’ve been there drop me a message 👍
