yes two actually ihave now had alarge bowel polyp removed which was not the cause of the bleeding icannot believe that severe diverticulitus can only be controlled by high fibre diet surely half the population that have this problem do not lose apint of blood without warning....thanks for your interest

As far as I know, diverticulitis needs antibiotics. And when it is cured, those who have had diverticulitis should have prophylactic antibiotic treatment every month. But I'm not a specialist. So I advice you to go to a specialist. Coloscopy excludes other major causes of bleeding, that's because I asked you. Of course, no exam is 100% perfect, but I think coloscopy is the better thing to do if you happen bleeding through the anus.

Why isn't your GP concerned about you?? It's his/her work!! Anyway: go to a gastroenterologist. I know yhere are long term antibiotic therapies which have very low toxicity because the antibiotic is not absorbed by the bowel wall into the blood

yes I am thankful I do not haveulcerative colitis .my point is that if half the population have diverticulius surely they donot lose apint of blood without warning and that the only remedy is a high fibre diet thanks for your interest
