Hello, I'm 21 and over a year ago I had a wart on my frenulum. Since I used cream to remove it and it seems to have thinned out my skin. Now when my foreskin retracts during an erection or even when I'm cleaning it in the shower it splits, in the same spot each time. I let it heal again for a month or two but the same problem keeps reoccurring, it's painful and makes it hard to have sex with my partner, with or without condoms. Is it worth seeing a doctor to get it removed? I'm fed up of pain and hassle from it all now.
Thanks

Hi. sorry to hear. does it split because of the tension? meaning it is strained when pulling back? or how does it happen. What actually happens? does it just get raw or does it actually tear and if so does it tear across or lengthwise?
So previously before you had the problem you could roll back your foreskin and the frenulum was not tight. Then something changed and now when you do the same the frenulum seems to be tight. Is it so tight that when you actually roll back the foreskin the tight frenulum bends forward the penis glans? or not?
So before I never had this problem, it was perfectly fine. Now when it is rolled back it's tight, feel as if it's about to snap but it only splits when it's erect and then gets pulled back. it does pull slightly down on the penis glade.
My not specialist opinion. What exactly caused the first tear I will not know. That first tear however could have caused scar tissue which not only "shortened" the frenulum but also made the scar more prone to tearing. The more it happened the worst the situation became. Possible solution.
A frenuloplasty operation which is a small operation. There they do certain cut in the frenulum after which a flap is stretched and the stitched closed again. this actually increases the length of the frenulum.
Alternatively they can cut the tight frenulum. It remains in place but it is split and heals in the split way. after healing there will remain this split.
This splitting can also be done by the tying method. This a person can even do himself. With local anaesthetic cream the frenulum is numbed and a string (nylon) is passed through behind the frenulum with a needle. Once through it is tied tight and left like that. After few days the frenulum will just spit and will finish healing quickly. I have in fact removed my total frenulum this way, tying it off bit by bit.
Easiest is to have doctor look and do one of the above methods. I can also assure you I have lost no sensitivity. I was cut as adult, and my frenulum removal was later. I have experienced sensitivity uncut, then cut with frenulum and lastly cut with no frenulum and I never thought something of the sensitivity went missing. never.
