New alcohol guidance

The chief medical officer published new guidelines on alcohol. Do you understand what a unit of alcohol is and do you find 'units' helpful to measure your alcohol intake?

I honestly find the guidelines around alcohol intake baffling.

I understand why they are there and developed, but I would question how people translate this beyond "Perhaps I shouldn't drink as much". While that would be a great outcome and data from the ONS (ons.gov.uk/ons/dcp171778_33... showing a falling rate of alcohol consumption over time, I wonder what the impact would be if there was a statement such as "the guidelines say more than 6 pints or 6 glasses of wine per week lead to poor health".
