So, I’m a 26 yr old who had a circumcision on the 30th of January due to phimosis.
Anyway I need to know, it says on the nhs site that they use dissolvable stitches completely but there is like a weird ring around the shaft near the head and on top of that I was informed by my surgeons that there would be permanent stitches inside underneath. On top of this I still feel pain/discomfort around my frenulum is this normal?
Just a bit confused really and need some information. Do I need to go back to the hospital to have the stitches removed inside? Do I need to wait for swelling to go down around my frenulum?

Hi Bud. I had cut for the same reason. Also dissolving stitches. The ring around the shaft just behind head is completely normal. It's swelling and will go away. It took a few weeks to completely disappear for me so don't worry. Once mine had gone, it revealed a nice neat cut line. Not sure what they meat about permanent stitches inside. I wasn't told that. As for frenulum, that was the slowest to heal and the most sensitive. There's a lot of nerves there as it's a key place where you get sexually stimulated. Mine bled a bit after night erections but again, don't worry as it settles down, just takes a while. Make sure to dip your wound in salt water. I just used a pint glass. Don't rub it though. Salt helps prevent infection and promotes healing. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask any questions however trivial you might think they are. Cheers.
