Who has had/has BXO - How did you decide to treat it?

Wondering what others are doing with BXO. Just getting a circumcision, or have you tried other things first? Creams? stretching? not stretching? injections of stronger meds? etc?

I recently read there are injections that can break up scar tissue.

Example 1

"If a hypertrophic scar or keloid develops after surgery, dermatologists recommend getting steroid injections every four to six weeks, limiting the total number of injections to five. The procedure takes about 15 minutes, and often no anesthesia is required.

In the hours after an injection, you can break up scar tissue yourself and improve the effectiveness of the injections by gently massaging the scar. Side effects may include thinning or sunken skin at the site of injection."

Maybe the same as Corticosteroid Injections?

Example 2

Laser Therapy involves treatment that penetrates the skin and promotes the growth of healthy collagen. ...

Example 3

There are also silicone gel patches that adhere to the skin and can help promote tissue healing. Wrapping or taping the injury might also decrease tension and inflammation.

Example 4

Shockwave Therapy

Example 5

Surgery (snip snip)

Why is surgery the 1st option doctors recommend?

Hi, I had BXO diagnosed in 2014, but have had no symptoms for the last two years. Check my post threads for details. They say circumcision will cure many cases ( 80%)but is not guaranteed. Circumcision is best done when a child, as an adult there can be complications. I keep my foreskin retracted with a glans ring via frenum piercing after visiting a professional genital piercer. Extremely important that a glans ring isn't tight or it can cut the circulation to your penis. Creams and surgery didn't work for me but natural pure ginger oil cleared up the hard white skin. My glans skin is now perfectly normal.

I read the post and have it on my shopping list. I was also going to call my Dr. to see about the online treatments that are used to break up scar tissue. The skin just needs to let got a bit so my skin can pull back further.

I assume you let your skin heal when flacid and not stretched with the ginger. I will try that, but my goal was to over stretch the tight scar tissue until it ripped apart. I was going to do this by slowly stretching it more and more with some type of homemade device (google expansion plug), but the issue is I want to make something that allows me to go to the washroom while it remains in and keeps the skin stretched. THen apply a steroid cream or your ginger root if that works. The logic is that the skin will tear but heal itself while still being stetched out (maybe after 2weeks of being stretched). At his point, when removing the device, I hope the skin will not contract and become tight again because it will be healed and it will be healed from that stretched state. RIght now, my skin stretches and micro tears when masturbating or having sex (constant pulling of the skin downward where the shaft is wider) and it heals when flacid and contracted. This then causes more scaring next time it tears and this cycle is what I want to break. I need a design that would expand an elastic tube like a balloon sleeve for example.

I have also tried shockwave therapy. very expensive and a total waste of time. its fringe science that is unproven. The answer to your question about surgery being the first option of doctors, is that urologists and surgeons haven't a clue about the cause of BXO, and they think cutting away skin may cure it. Many times I've gone to a specialist , and see them reading up the same pages I've read on the internet. I don't blame them. BXO is a rare condition so no one invests in the research.

Yes, I also ready they don't know the root cause of BXO. It's about 5% of men who get it or around there.

"It was initially described by Stuhmer in 1928, named after its pathological features, and is considered the male equivalent of vulvar lichen sclerosis (LS). The etiology of BXO is uncertain; however, autoimmune disease, local trauma, and genetic and infective causes have been proposed.Oct 12, 2018"

I got it when I was on some meds for my mood and couldn't get hard. I ended up watching porn, couldn't get turned on, kept stroking and ended up causing friction burn on the foreskin and this is where my BXO ring started. Right where my thumb wraps around my penis is where the scar ring formed. So trama could be a cause meaning infection/hygiene might be a cause. I had the meds that would have caused chemical changes in me. I usually JO daily and never have issues so this was abnormal. I was also a smoker then and smoked cannabis regularly so it's possible my immune was weaker (eg. lower lung capacity means less oxygen to the blood, which means slower healing of wounds like my friction burn). So I basically covered all the possible causes potentially was my guess.

I used the high potency steroid creams they suggest for it but it didn't help.

has your doctor taken a skin sample biopsy to confirm you definitely have BXO?

no they just looked and knew it was. I googled it and knew it was.

I have not had BZO as i was cut at birth as were most boys when I was born in Australia so no I do not have a foreskin so have avoided all those type of problems.

Based on that logic, you must be safe from lung cancer, heart disease, and covid because you're circumcised. I don't see any logic in your post.

I'm just glad I have my foreskin because women say they prefer it over circumcised penises Foreskin is natural lube vs circumcised men who don't have any natural lubrication leading to painful and unenjoyable sex for women. This is why circumcised men carry lube with them wherever they go. Also, the glands aren't protected on circumcised penises, and you're cutting away girth which women also enjoy. But, I'm glad your parents made a cosmetic decision without your approval or knowledge. To each their own.

Again the stereo typical intactivist is incorrect. Not all circumcised men carry lube around with them, I never use lube and find its use makes sex or masturbation worse. How many women did you survey to gauged wether sex with a uncircumcised guy is better then a circumcised guy?

Let's be honest Keithy...everything is a stereotype when trying to identify a group because not everyone fits into a mold. Humans generalize to simply communication.

My point remains and holds its own against any argument you or others might have though. I'm simply saying if you're uncut, you probably have lube laying around for sexual pleasure. If the majority of men who are cut use lube regularly, then your 1 off comments are tossed out like any science experience that removes the outliers.

If you're cut and have no foreskin gliding over your shaft, it means your skin is rubbing directly against her vagina walls. This leads to drying of her vagina due to friction and air drying. Once that happens, it just starts to hurt her no different than a friction burn. Now if you had foreskin, that skin would be gliding over your own skin and the foreskin wouldn't be sliding against the vagina walls nearly as often.

As for the survey, also antidotal, but I've slept with a modest 35 women and usually ask the ones I've dated about it. Most would say they like to give a BJ to a circumcised man and prefer sex with an uncircumcised man. The reasons being the fiction/pain is far worse when you have no skin, and the skin is there adding 1/2 Inch of girth and even more when it's bunching up on every stroke.

Here is some educational learning for you and others. Western world has no need to be cutting the skin off babies. Babies still die from this process. Just imagine you're a parent and your baby died because you're cosmetic choice to circumcise him.

youtube.com/watch?v=_j0oiJm... - anyone insisting circumcision is better is just stating old and incorrect studies. Studies saying HIV is at more risk, etc just comes down to countries with worse hygiene habits than others.
