Desensitizing glans 4 weeks after circumcision

I'm currently around 1 month post-circumcision and I've been wrapping both the wound and my glans everyday with Vaseline and gauze for around 3 weeks (I went commando during the first week and walked around naked at home). I shower and change my gauze twice a day so I always have it on including when I sleep. I've also been wearing decently tight briefs to keep everything from moving. I'm only really experiencing pain in the mornings right when I wake up. The gauze usually falls off overnight and my exposed glans rubbing against my underwear causes a lot of discomfort. I can very lightly touch the front of the glans without pain, but the sides and bottom of the glans are still too sensitive for me to touch without discomfort.

Overall, things are fine but I'm just a little worried about the healing process. I'm worried that my sensitivity will always be there and that I won't be able to masturbate / have sex due to the pain. I'm also way too scared to not put on gauze and bear with the pain, even if that may help desensitize my penis. Any suggestions as to what I should do would be appreciated!

Hey to be honest I think you should stop wrapping it , if you keep wrapping it ,the desensitizing will take longer. By week 4 I was taking on the full shower head to my glands. Take care. I got mine done in March I’m completely healed but still a little sore under the skin. I don’t think you should masterbate till 6 months. It’s a long healing process, every one is different.

Thanks for the advice! I will try to stop wrapping it and see how it goes. Also, I realized that the sensitivity issue right now is mostly with my inner foreskin rather than the glans, did you experience that as well? Some of my stitches have already fallen off but that area is still very sensitive.

Absolutely, even after the stitches fall out , and you are healed you are still going to feel soreness under the skin, I m on 4 months and still feel a little soreness. Just keep apply large amount of Vaseline and leave in wrapped.

Ok I'll do that. So basically I should keep the inner foreskin wrapped but try to leave the glans exposed to keratinize them faster? When did you stop wrapping the glans and when did you stop wrapping the inner foreskin? Thanks for all the help so far btw. And yes I had phimosis for around 20 years and I never exposed my glans.

If you don’t mind me asking did you have phimosis, or you just got it done to get it done?

According to me, u can try exposing it first to air then water , then saliva, then any other ointment and then u can try removing the gauze for some time and try to bear the pain one thing u could do is use some lidocaine cream and when it numbs!! Expose it with fabrics for 2-3 hours and then u might not feel the discomfort and it will be exposed also

Hi how is your sensitivity now?

I'm on day 16 and still very sensitive.

Just like you, I have to sleep with my penis wrapped in vaseline and gauze and not able to expose it to my clothes or underwear.

Did you find any method to help you accelerate the desensitization process?

There seems to be some mixed reviews about coconut oil. Some folks saying that it's helped them to decrease sensitivity while others saying it's only to help remove the scars.

Hey! I just hit the 6 week mark and I'm still pretty sensitive. I've still been gauzing everyday which I don't really think is helping to be honest. I'm planning on going gauzeless whenever I'm at home from tomorrow onwards. The sensitivity has definitely improved compared to the first few weeks though.

I have now applied coconut oil to my glans twice in the last 8 hours, and I'm happy to report that the results are very positive!

The first time I applied the oil I could barely touch my glans for half a second.

I however still put a few drops of the oil all over the glans and let it sit there for some time.

The second time I applied coconut oil today, I was able to lightly massage my glans with my finger for almost 10-15 seconds!

This is huge for me as I have never been able to touch my glans for more than a millisecond in the past.

From tomorrow I'm going to apply the oil at least three times a day.

I saw a few comments that coconut oil is only for lubrication and not for helping with desensitization, but I can already the feel the difference in just one day in helping with desensitizing my glans.

I have also been watching many YouTube videos, and almost all of the urologists here in India are recommending coconut oil massages twice a day to normalize the sensitivity.
