How to deal with glans sensitivity after circumcision.

RunningCircles123 profile image

I have recently had a circumcision 4 days ago, and the sensitivity is killing me. I am unable to preform simple tasks as getting out of bed, moving my legs, and let alone walking. Whenever the glans touch any anything, it feels really uncomfortable and I get somewhat of a burning sensation. I had phimosis before this, and as a result my foreskin have never been retracted. Any ways or tips to deal with the sensitivity? And how did your recovery looklike?

I was in the same boat and still am although it’s a bit better. I still don’t touch my glans I wear a sports cup so I can wear clothes on top of it. I can walk for the most part ok but I can’t do any strenuous work. I’m 7 weeks in and I’m also getting a bit desperate but I’m just gonna try to submerge mine with salt twice daily, gonna try to put cocoa butter oil to see if that helps. Drying it out also seems to help by not wearing clothes but I still have that sensitivity issue. When I first got circumcised the glans sensitivity was at a 10. Now it’s like a 5-6. I’m still afraid to touch it but I’m gonna have to try. Let me know how you you are doing. Also I’m gonna try some numbing sprays to see if that helps. Hope we will get through this fast!

I agree with reply from Rolliex00.

I am day 12 post circumcision and has been having the same issue of sensitivity with glans skin as mine wasn't exposed much before.

It is still quite sore but little better. People in this forum have suggested various things to try including coconut oil, wearing tight boxes etc. Some one also suggested it may take months before it gets settled completely.

Try wearing relatively tight regular briefs or a jock strap. Slowly over time the sensitivity wull subside. Don't put a calendar to it as the time varies greatly from person to persone.

Just hang in there. The more you apply friction the fasater the recovery. Don't rush it though. You also may notice that you may have a partial or full erection due to the sensitivity.

Thank you, so the more the glans touch clothing lets say, the better it’ll be for recovery?

No that's not what he meant. It's good to let the glans touch the fabric but it's still up to individual tolerance level. Because tight brief can hold your penis more firmly and you won't feel uncomfortable when wearing clothes. For me I wrap it with thin layer of guaze for the first 4 weeks without applying anything and now I can wear loose or tight briefs, although the sensitivity still cause abit of discomfort. remember to dry it everytime after you shower. If not the glans will stick to your brief and causes more discomfort. And yeah the erection is quite irritating and it just happen in the public sometimes.

Makes sense, and people say loose briefs are better than tight no?

Tight is the way to go. Why make yourself so discomfort if tight briefs helps? I mean eventually the sensitivity will go away maybe months to a year.

I was hypersensitive, still sensitive don’t get me wrong but i’m adjusting well over time, having salt baths every day to promote healing and i eventually put on some tight cotton boxers and it really isn’t as bad as you think. It gets easier every day i promise you, you can read my posts you might find some things helpful.

Won’t epsom salt baths cuz stinging??

I personally think the best thing to do which i did is go cold turkey and let the penis rub touch and get use to everything because in the long run it wilk be better for you if you are gonna keep it covered with a cup or whatever you use then you might as well of kept your foreskin
