circumcised side affects

Hi all,

I had a circumcision operation 7 months ago and the head of the penis is still sore & numb in places. I do not feel anything when I climax, all sensation has mor or less gone. It’s starting to get me paranoid & anxious now when I have sex. Is this normal, will the sensation come back. I’ve been back to see the surgeon who has just gave me cream to use for a couple of months, I’m not sure what this will do 🤷🏻‍♂️

While the sensation from the glans of your penis you would expect to be lessened - one of the effects of the op that some guys think is a good thing as it takes them longer to reach orgasm. Strangely, a number of women have no desire to be pounded for hours!!!

The lack of orgasmic feeling is a different matter as that is generally to do with the signals from your brain. It can be caused by damage or taking particular classes of drugs called SSRIs. I wonder whether a consultation with a neurologist might be helpful.

Thank you for your reply. How do you think a neurologist could help? I am willing to try anything but I’ve never taken drugs,I don’t even take pain killers so I know it’s nothing I’ve done.I have no problem climaxing but I I just don’t feel it.

Nerve damage is the area of expertise of a neurologist

Thanks, that makes sense. I didn’t realise a neurologist covered all nerves of the body, I’ve been referred to a consultant urologist by the surgeon who done my op

Hi This is interesting. Please do read when you get chance all my concerns. I am in the same boat, I have not recovered after more than 17 months since this procedure was carried out. I feel the same, my penis is dead as stone, no feelings, no erections, completely, totally and wholly grounded. No call to have any sex. Since the procedure, I have tried everything, nothing works.

I was circumcised for medical reasons a number of years ago and there was a noticeable loss in sensation for me too. I've read conflicting things about this, some people say there was no difference, some say it's better and some say it's worse. Things are ok now so I do wonder how much of it was in my head and I was stressing so much it made it worse. Give it time and try not to worry about it especially before jumping into seeing other specialists as sometimes you can convince yourself you have an issue when you don't. Good luck.
