Just check with your doctor if there's some bad smell. The first week is brutal, but it gets better after that. I'm at day 14 and still healing. Try to keep your penis out in the open if possible, that will speed up the healing process. Apply ice at least 3 times a day, it works wonders for the swelling. I had my frenulum removed too and it's the part that takes longer to heal. Be patient and follow instructions.

Unfortunately wrong answer x 2:

It is suggested to cover the wound until it is healed properly and there is no discharge anymore.

It is not suggested to use an ice pack on incision line after first couple of days post-op, because it will fall temperature on wound bed below 33 °C.

I didnt mean all out, I mean no underwear but still covered. I also apply icepacks NOT directly to the wound, that would be extremely painful. I mean put a cloth over your penis with the bandages. He's in day 6 so it's ok to apply ice.

Yep. It is quite difficult to express your idea with couple of words. ;)

The penis shaft under the incision line can be good place for ice pack, but on thin gauze won't matter on this case, if you apply the ice pack directly on to incision line. The temperature of the bottom of the wound will fall below 33°C.

The ideal time of ice packs is first 3-5 days post-op on inflammatory phase of the wound healing. Not after that. We do not want vasoconstriction of blood vessels, when healing is what we hope for.

The swelling after a week post-op is normally due to damaged lymph fluid flow on incision line. Fluid can not freely flow back to your groin are, where the nearest lymph nodes locate. Your body will heal damaged fluid vessels, but it takes more time than just couple of weeks. Keeping your penis upright will help the flow.

If the swelling between incision line and glans corona is very severe and threats the blood flow on the penis glans, (similar case: paraphimosis) then any case of care is permitted. They normally cut diagonal incisions to inner foreskin to release the pressure and prevent necrosis of penis glans.

I've always done it on the gauze and the cold gets through eventually. It's helped me a lot. Interesting on the days. My doctor told me to put ice packs twice a day. Swelling is almost gone and I'm healing pretty well.

Do whatever makes you happy. I hope your wound heal too. ;) I just try to tell the scientific side of wound healing process. Just remember the circumcision wound is different than an ankle injury.

Hows your lower part where the frenulum was?

Manny_ profile image
Manny_ in reply to Anonymous127

It’s still the most sensitive part. Swelling is almost gone but stitches are still there. Doctor says it’s progressing well but I’m only at day 17 post op.

Did your remaing skin detach from the glands which it was stitched at or the swelling went down with your skin still attached to them?

My skin is still stitched below the glans. Nothing is attached to the glans anymore.

Happiness has nothing to do with it. I'll ask my doctor about what you've told me. Thanks.
