Hey everyone, I am 18 years old and my parents are seriously considering getting me circumcised now. I'm really worried about this and was wondering if my penis looks like this is necessary. It is about 8 inches long and 6 inches in girth: I have a hard time pulling the foreskin back, and when I do, its pretty uncomfortable. Is it just a matter of stretching the skin, or is it easier and better just to get the circumcision?

You are old enough to make the decision for your self. If you are slightly tight go and see a doctor about it. Don’t be pressured into circumcision even by your parents. You are an adult now they can’t force you to get circumcised against your will.

What is the reason for circumcision? Medical need or just your parents belief system? Have you already visited in doctor?
Normally when you pull your foreskin back and forth enough when washing your penis or masturbate it will loosen. Your foreskin and glans will get used to friction.
I do try to understand situation in USA is more pro-circumcision than here in Europe. Almost 70% of infants will be mutilated without their own consent. When that amount of males are circumcised as an infant they can't even know how to teach their adolescent boys to wash their intact penises.
And then there is a ridiculous health insurance system, where children are under their parents insurance, if they just happen to have work.. Is this the reason why your parents consider to get you circumcised now, when the insurance pays the bill.
Anyway, it's your body, your choice.. Peer pressure is not always the smartest choice.

I think the main reason behind this is that they discovered that I masturbate, being Christian, I don't want to anymore but it is an addiction. I think they want me to stop as well, and if this does it then maybe its worth it?

Circumcision won't stop masturbation, even Mr. Kellogg has said so in 1910's. Don't do it for that reason!

You can be Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jew whatever. There is nothing wrong with the masturbation. It's quite hard to understand your parents mentality, cause here in Finland we all are more liberal than someone can be on bible belt there in US. Masturbation is not a sin.

Frankly, I'm surprised it wasn't a lot higher - I'd have expected it to be well over 80%.
There is also some evidence that masturbation can reduce the risk of prostate cancer (which killed my father). From a 2016 study published in European Urology and based on information gathered over 18 years:
"We evaluated whether ejaculation frequency throughout adulthood is related to prostate cancer risk in a large US-based study. We found that men reporting higher compared to lower ejaculatory frequency in adulthood were less likely to be subsequently diagnosed with prostate cancer."

Circumcision wouldn't stop you masturbating anyway - it would just change the way you do it, and you may enjoy it less. You're 18 though - just say no. Personally, I'd pay a year's salary rather than be circumcised.
If your foreskin is uncomfortable, I think, as long as it's YOUR choice, you should do whatever you feel is best for yourself. However, your parents have ABSOLUTELY no place or right to influence or pressure you. This is a decision that is YOURS and YOURS alone to make.
If you are 18 You are an adult. Your parents can’t make you get circumcised. If you tell the doctor or surgeon that you don’t want circumcised they can’t go ahead with the operation. Would they be trying to scare you into stopping masturbating?

Here's my take on it, circumcised as an adult 4 months ago. Being circumcised won't stop you from masturbating, and nothing should stop you from masturbating. It's not a sin, that is a lie to control you.
Now, if you are feeling forced into it by pressure from your parents, make sure you take some control. Start with: All right, I'll get circumcised but only by my choice of the doctor.
Now you have a chance to control the outcome, and brother you really want control of the outcome. Start doing your research of doctors (Urologists) and only continue further investigation of a particular doctor after you find out what technique he uses, and what style of cut he knows how to do.
I research until I found a Urologist that would circumcise to the style you ask for, and he has plastic surgery training so one emphasis of his practice is cosmetic outcome. My own interest was in retaining all of my nerve rich inner foreskin where most of the orgasmic pleasure centers on me, and getting that skin stretched tight when erect. That is what I got, and now masturbation pleasure is much more intense than when I was uncut, as well as when my wife and I have sex.

Having had both, I have found sex got much better after I got circumcised, because of the high and tight style that preserved my inner foreskin nerves, and also because the inner foreskin nerves are now better exposed to stimulus.

No don’t start with alright I’ll get circumcised. Start with I will see a doctor and if medically necessary I may get circumcised if no other treatments work.
Circumcision is not a matter of belief, it’s fact, if a medical professional says you need to be circumcised, then that’s the case. Your parents can’t force you to get circumcised but I get the pressure you’re under.
I’m 20 and got circumcised at 17, luckily my parents aren’t religious so it was simply a matter of that ‘if I wanted to have sex, I needed to be circumcised’
I’d recommend seeing a doctor by yourself if possible, you can ask the questions you need to and your parents weird masturbation agenda won’t be a factor.
I believe from the bottom of my heart that masturbation is completely healthy and normal.
Every Christian takes certain parts of the bible seriously when it conveniences them, it was a book written in a time completely irrelevant to now.
In regards to masturbation, the bible states ‘if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off’.

In Canada, we had a phone-in talk show called "Talking Sex With Sue". I remember one quote she gave; "10% of men masturbate. The other 90% are liars."Masturbation is normal. At worst, it is harmless. Actually, I think it is good for physical and mental well-being. Sex with a partner, or by yourself, is a good way to relieve tension. I shudder to think of what it would do to your mind if tension is not relieved every now and then.

Your parents need to get over their hangups about sex and get educated.
If your parents are pushing you toward circumcision, they should educate themselves on that subject and human sexuality in general.
Circumcision is serious business. Read the entries in this forum. You will see some reports of satisfied customers, but you will see many reports of complications following the procedure and botched jobs. Once it is done, there is no going back.
Also, since you are 18, your parents can't force it on you. It is your body and your choice.
Circumcision is a last resort when all other options fail. If a doctor recommends circumcision at the outset, find another doctor. Circumcision is a multi-million dollar business in the US which doctors use to make a quick buck. They don't have to live with the consequences of this operation. You do.
Give stretching a try. A doctor may also recommend steroid creams to help with the stretching. A previous respondent suggested reading phimosisjourney.com. It can't hurt.
Do your homework and read what the other respondents to your query have to say.
Best of luck in finding a solution to your foreskin problem and hopefully, you will come to an amicable resolution with your parents.

On one side you say you are sorry for me. Secondly, you say it's rubbish...it's not rubbish but is a reality....guys take my word...don't go for circumcision....your penis Wil lose its size and proper erections. It's not just me but there are many who have experienced this.

Bro, if it stopped people masturbating do you think all the guys on here who were done as adults would have had it?! It won't stop it and nor should it. It is NOT a sin in the bible - not exactly recommended either but not a sin! You're 18, say no. I do appreciate how hard that can be with domineering, religious parents (I had that too) but you must be absolutely firm and stand up to them. See a doc and tell him you'd like to try stretching it first with steroid creme. However, if it does require circumcision and is YOUR choice later on don't panic. Had it done and love it but if it's forced on you you will resent it. May be an idea to tell them you've Seen The Light on your self abuse, agree with them, girded your loins and ceased. Then just don't get caught Seriously good luck man, it's time to stand up to them. Remember, up to a certain age we accept that our parents are right about everything and have our best interests at heart about everything. They don't on either count.
