After 3 years waiting for a circumcision for phimosis in Scotland I decided to go privately as the Covid Pandemic will only delay the op further.
I had the operation 15 days ago. This is my experience as a 28year old.
On 23rd Dec I had the procedure, nervous as hell! It was done by local anesthetic , 2x injections into the base of groin (not sore, only nippy) - then topped up if required during the procedure.
I felt pulling and tugging but nothing major. I'm honest, I did have to get topped up by more local anesthetic as one bit was sore. However, after 1hr 10mins I was done, sat up right in the bed and having water. I was so rigid and stressed but that was more mind than pain.
I didn't realise how psychological intense this procedure would be. I felt shattered after it. I went for a pee which I had to sit down due to the spray. This first night was ok, wasn't great but did get some rest.
At the start, the night erections were intense and did wake me up, but as each night passes it does get easier! I was on the highest strength of co-codamol for the first 48hrs and naproxen to reduce the swelling. I had gauze around it.
I never showered or bathed myself. I only did a hand wash for the first 72hours. On day 3, I took the gauze off (slowly) in the bath, it felt amazing! I was a bit disheartened to see the swelling, I thought 'What have I done'.. But don't think negatively - keep POSITIVE!
To walk I wore briefs and put gauze inside the briefs with vaseline so the glan and briefs didn't cause friction/sensitivity I wore them at night too, with pillows between my legs (as I sleep on my side). On day 4, I walked 1mile (slow pace). I was moving fine, however I felt in the evenings and nights that it was more uncomfortable, felt tighter. From day 4, I was only on naproxen in the mornings and evenings. No other pain relief and increased my walks to 3miles. As the days went on I felt better, but the sensitivity was still there! Day 5, I had my first pee standing up! The stream is very strong and still is. I have a new skin smell at times, at the start the smell was strong, not as strong now. The penis was itchy, but don't itch - its a sign of healing!
On day 10 I had my first shower! Felt amazing. Still have stitches in, with one catching on the gauze (sore!) and I had bleeding spots on the gauze. The vaseline on the gauze inside the briefs made me far more secure, I could walk etc.. This is important for your mental health - its progress!
On day 13, I started in the evenings not wearing gauze, then day 14 I did a whole day of no gauze if I was in the house and then today 15, no gauze at night or indoor/outdoor! Just my briefs and jeans! PROGRESS! Sensitivity is far far less.
I honestly feel great, no pain. A bit of sensitivity If something catches on it and a few stitches are out, the one that kept catching are now gone! Swelling is going down rapidly now. It's starting to look and feel normal.
Believe me, I was so nervous for this and the recovery. But it has been straight forward, no pain and not huge sensitivity. Briefs, gauze and vaseline are a must!
I'll update in a week.
