I got circumcised 12 days ago. The first few days I wore boxer briefs since it’s the type of underwear I wear more often. I noticed some pairs were tighter in certain areas and made it uncomfortable to walk. My main issue with underwear was I could feel the stitches move a bit or get snugged in my underwear.
I also own a few pairs of briefs but was very hesitant to wear them because the style keeps my penis and balls together in a more secure way. I finally decided around day 6 or so to try briefs that I had even though I was very nervous I immediately felt better. I didn’t have to watch my steps while walking to avoid the stitches feeling pulled. I tend to wear briefs during the day and switch to boxer briefs while I sleep. I noticed the boxer briefs give me more so it helps at night during erections to have the extra room.
I wasn’t sure if anyone had similar experience or if it would help anyone out since I know I was really nervous to try different underwear while recovering.
It is generally recommended that one wear close fitting briefs with the penis pointing upwards (towards the stomach) to hold the penis steady and help with draining away excess lymph. These can be worn in bed, or looser underwear if one prefers as the penis is not swinging about as one walks at that time.
I didn’t get any info from my doctor about what kind of underwear to wear after the procedure so I wasn’t sure. All he said was to wear something loose fitting, which is why I was hesitant about switching to briefs. I had a few pair that are more bikini fitting and not the traditional briefs. I had noticed those are great to wear during the day.
First few days after circumcision I had worn nothing but a towel/loose cotton cloth and kept the area dry ..later as I upped my activity wore briefs like what roddythescot said ..it helps and later switched backed to boxers around day 15 when I got more comfortable . Just ensure that the elastic band doesn't snap on your incision site as it may sting or cause little bleed from the stitch site .
my personal choice is tight bikini brief, ice silk or viscose material, one size smaller.
Secure my penis perfectly, not to mention the super stretchy material, feels like wearing nothing at all.
My advice would be to wear nothing at home if you can to let air get to your penis that will assist healing and when you have to wear something choose briefs that keep you in place to stop rubbing and friction
A friend of mine who was circumcised as an adult said he switched to tight briefs while he was healing and has kept wearing them since! I find briefs a bit more comfortable too and I was circumcised when very young
Yeah I honestly agree with that. I started using briefs while recovering from my circumcision. I’m fully healed now and I find myself still preferring briefs nowadays.
Bro Im on day 4 op and I can't bear the hyper sensitivity how long did it take you for glans to get used to the environment? this is my first time having glans exposed due to phimosis
Hi there, I just got circumcised to, and too had to get it done due the fact that I had phimosis, any tips to reduce sensitivity, and how long would it be this sensitive because it's sooo uncomfortable when my penis touches my clothing
Mine was sensitive for the first 10 days or so, I started off using vaseline on the glans when walking around home for a few days, i'm around 3 weeks in and I don't use anything on the glans anymore and it is way less sensitive
So I was circumcised yesterday and my doctor told me that I should always have the penis pointing upwards(12 o'clock) I did that, he also told me that I should take Amoxicillin Trihydrate as an Antibacterial to prevent infections, and Mefenamic Acid as a pain reliever, So right now I am wearing nothing because Boxers, Shorts and Briefs hurt, but I have a bandage on. Is it okay if I only cover my pp with a towel to protect it from infections? Also how should I wash it?
Mine was 6 days ago (dissolving sutures) and at first I wore briefs, but the seam down the middle of the front of them was excruciating (some pants have cleaner stitching than others but I found they all hurt).
I was feeling pretty desperate so I wore swimming briefs (Speedos) as they are seamless in the front, but the material is a bit coarser than soft underwear. An old pair I had which were slightly too big to actually wear to the pool were much more comfortable than the snug pair that fit me.
A lot of posts here recommend ‘microfibre’ but you can also find ‘modal’ (I think this is viscose) and anything with some stretchy elastane/spandex in it will be less ‘rough’ than cotton.
I highly recommend the style called ‘anatomical pouch’ (Andrew Christian ‘Almost Naked’ range seem to be one of the few who specialise in this), which are similar to bikini brief except more like a regular pair of pants and deliberately designed to let the penis sit in its normal position without being squashed at all. The only discomfort then comes from the fabric touching the head, and this is quickly accustomed to. I think this accelerated my return to normality.
I also ordered some seamless briefs (Modus Vivendi) but they weren’t comfortable, it’s better to have some support.
You could also wear a jockstrap if you find one with just flat cloth on the front (otherwise they have the seam problem like regular briefs). The ‘athletic’ style with the waffle material is way too coarse
The pain does lessen with each day, and I can walk normally again now.
Another thing to consider is: if your meatus (the tip) is getting stuck to the inside of your pants then just pour warm water over and into them to dissolve the precum that’s adhering to the cloth - by day 4 this was more significant source of pain than the stitches snagging. So having a few pairs to switch between while the ones you got wet are drying can mean you’re not waiting around getting cold!
