2 week post circumcision. Questions regarding progress

RunningCircles123 profile image

So tomorrow would be 2 weeks since my surgery. Thankfully the sensitivity i was worried about a week ago has lowered. I am able to walk normally with pants and clothes now, I sometimes limp but for the most part it is better. But most of my stitches still has not dissolved, and the penis shaft is still bruised and swollen near the glans. Especially during an erection, it is quite visible. Also, size seems to be smaller. Is this normal for now?

What did you did that made your glans less sensitive? Did you just start touching the head or just started putting clothes on and let it come in contact? I’m ready to start wearing clothes it’s been several weeks. Also how is the pain level from you touching the head?

I was circumcised nearly 6 months ago and while my sensitivity is no longer painful to touch, it’s still a little too much sensation to comfortably wear clothes but I still try to expose it as I can. In the meantime, I found some underwear on Amazon called something like Phimosis circumcision underwear. It helped me be able to wear clothes (as long as I’m flaccid) as my glans doesn’t touch the “cup” part of the underwear. But unfortunately, time and exposing the glans will be the main things to help your sensitivity go down.

It has been a struggle. I’m glad you’re doing better. So you aren’t able to wear clothes yet? How bad is the pain/sensation when you do wear underwear that directly touches your glans? Have you used a numbing spray? Lidocaine or benzocaine? I heard those can help with numbing the area and then be able to touch and get used to more friction. I just got some and I’m gonna try it. Also when you shower, is it easier to touch the glans when wet or dry?

When my glans touches regular underwear it’s not really painful it’s more like too much sensation that isn’t pleasant but isn’t very unpleasant at the same time. I have tried numbing sprays, they do help a little bit but it ended up irritating my glans so I stopped using them. Hopefully they work for you though.

When I shower, it is easier to touch when glans is wet because it seems like the touch has less impact. The main sensation that is getting me is the rubbing sensation. Simply touching my glans feels almost normal now but if it rubs against my leg or clothes, it’s an uncomfortable sensation (which was better than the pain that happened a couple months ago).

It’s good to hear you can actually touch your glans at least. I guess I will try to touch them in the shower and see if that builds my pain tolerance or at least maybe help with the not so pleasant feeling. I guess mine isn’t pain anymore either but more of a discomfort when touched. Is there a difference when touched between erect or flaccid? Maybe it’s better when erect?

Yeah over time it will go away if you expose it but trust me, I know how awful that sensation can be when you first try. When erect it does seem less uncomfortable to touch compared to flaccid for me at least. Try very very light touches at first and slowly work your way up to being able to touch like normal without much discomfort. After your glans is used to touch, it’ll have to get used to the rubbing/friction type sensation and that’s where I’m currently at. Then the step after that is wearing tight underwear to keep your penis in place to avoid as much friction as possible. The beginning is rough but your glans will desensitize quicker if you do this. Best of luck to ya man I can attest to how that hypersensitivity/discomfort really sucks.

Yes it’s good to know, under these bad circumstances, that I’m not alone. It’s been so rough. I had to wear a sports cup just so I can get back to normal life and wear clothes. But I have three weeks left to go back to work and my work can be physically demanding. I’m hoping I can at least wear underwear by then without the sports cup because I would not be able to move or do my job as good with it. I feel like it’s not as bad as the first weeks but certainly I’m still having issues with touching it. Im gonna submerge it in water and see if I can touch it that way. Or at least when water is running through it. Goal is to have underwear by middle of next week. Gonna just bear as much as I can. Thank you for all your help and also let me know how your progress goes and what other things that can help.

Yeah first week was horrid in terms of sensitivity, i kept my underwear on only. N when the week was over i was able to wear pants and underwear to let touch my glans. I am acc surprised it went away pre fast. More friction and exposure helps

I guess I have to just go for it and let it touch my underwear. Does it help to touch the glans in the shower better?

Yeah it does, any small steps done to desensitize will help. In the shower, it would be better too considering the glans are wet

Hello RunningCircles123,

I'm two weeks in after circumcision. The head is sensitive like you described. But like you mentioned I too see a change in the size of the penis. The erection certainty feels smaller than before.. the gridth seems increased. Is this normal? I'm a bit worried...

I see it's been about 6 months from when you posted this, is the penis head still sensitive? Does it take long to 'keratinize'?

Thanks in advance.
