I do not understand the point of stitches after circumcision? also, how long will it take for them to go away, I had my circumcision on the 24th nearly 3 weeks ago and currently still have self dissolvable stitches.

why stitches after circumcision
They hold the tissue together temporarily. You need to be patient while the body tissue absorbs the stitches, maybe three to five weeks.
My Doctor said it should take around 4 weeks for the stitches to dissolve. But I got an infection that slowed down the healing process. I still have one stitch left, 6+ weeks after getting the procedure. I pulled one out the other day, probably not the best thing to do! Hope you recover quickly
I removed my stitches at home at like week 3 because they were not holding anything anymore
Most stitches will come off by 4th week. For all to drop off, 5 to 6 weeks.
At this point the two pieces of skin, shaft and the old inner foreskin have attached to each other. I'd use a pair of tiny cuticle scissors and remove the stitches. If left too long you may get a "railroad track" along your scar.
