I have phimosis but i’ve been trying to stretch. It’s slowly working but i have little cuts on my foreskin from the stretching. How can i heal them so i can start again the next day. Is there a healing cream i can use to cure the cuts?

You should be very cautious about this. If you are not careful, these cuts can lead to scarring that will make the phimosis worse. I believe this is why doctors prescribe steroid cream to be used in conjunction with stretching.

I had this exact issue. The cuts caused scarring which made the phimosis so much worse. Circumcision was the only option in the end and I've never been happier! Go see a urologist for advice 👍

how much would circumcision cost ?

I'm from England and it's free with our health service.

How long did you have to wait though that is always the problem with the public health service😒

It was actually OK, from my consultation I had the op within 3 weeks.

MrMac99 profile image
MrMac99 in reply toAtheo

That wasn't too bad then did you have to wait long to see the urologist in the consultation with the referral you got from your GP.

Not really, it was about a week after the gp referred me. So from initial gp appointment to op it was a month. It was all pretty smooth sailing to be honest. Yes, the healing process isn't the greatest feeling in the world but it was no where near as bad as I had imagined it would be.

You were lucky then man I'm in Ireland and you would be waiting 2 months to see the consultant. If you can avoid complications the healing really isn't bad at all.

Oh wow. I was pretty lucky then. Mind you, I was dealing with it for nearly 2 years before I got the courage to get it sorted! Wish I just did it sooner!

Hi Man, that can be a problem with stretching it takes so long you will have to leave it a week or so to let things heal it usually causes more scarring. you should visit your doctor they may prescribe steroids cream which would help and get checked you may have a balanitis or yeast infection. Ultimately you may need a circumcision.

Hello, sorry about that Rick,I had the same problem but trust me the best way forward is to get the cut(Circumcised) even if you manage to stretch your foreskin to open, the glans underneath will be toooooo sensitive and painful to have a meaningful sexlife,,if you know what good for you,I wouldn't delay the inevitable!!!

...which is why you should see a Doctor first and get some steroid cream on prescription to assist the stretching process.

Steroids will advance the problem.

in reply tojimfromcalif

That goes against the advice, opinion and experience of the medical profession who have conducted trials and have published evidence based findings. In UK this is now a preferred treatment for mild to moderate phimosis that avoids surgery. It is also promoted on various anti-circumcision and foreskin restoration sites.

However, you say it’s wrong and I leave it to rick887 to decide which is best advice.

I would recommend circumcision mate. Your condition might lead to scarring so better consider to get circumcised.

You can buy hydrocortisone on ebay. Which is a mild steroid. But may not be strong enough to aid stretching.

jimfromcalif profile image
jimfromcalif in reply toAMR19

Steroids will make it worse because they invite yeast.

in reply toAMR19

Advising someone to bypass their doctor and buy non-OTC medication off the Internet is highly irresponsible. Also telling someone to apply steroid cream to their genitals without specifying which type and for how long is even worse. You might want to reconsider that advice and maybe delete it?

So quick disclaimer, not a doctor, merely someone with doctors available at pretty much all times to answer questions, as to this issue, jimfromcalif is actually partially correct. Steroids can invite fungal or yeast Infection, however it is unlikely that any OTC will be any higher than 1% which as per medical advice is fine to use even for this (I have been using a healing cream that contains equal parts 1% antiseptic and steroids, and asked specifically about this issue), as long as you're not abusing this (drenching your junk in steroids) it should be fine. But the key here is consult your doctor.. I know the thought of getting cut is scary (I'm three weeks in, trust me I know) but the relief is well worth the inconvenience.

There is no indication of need for steroids. He needs to treat the cause of cracking, nearly always a yeast problem. The most common cause of yeast is the killing of friendly bacteria through the use of soap. Steroids of any strength might work counter to the effect the yeast medicine would have. OTC yeast meds are also weaker than those by prescription, but generally are effective applied alone. When phimosis is a factor which his physician advises Betamethasone, it should be formulated with a yeast preventative. At this point, he should try the obvious first line of defense which responsible doctors would take, to approach it conservatively. He should not be told to consider cutting off a very important of his body, one which imparts exquisite pleasure.

I had the exact same problem before I was circumcised, literally the same problem. I know that skin cracking is one of the potential causes of this (which btw without so much as a picture to look at I wouldn't even dare diagnose), but unless there's more than "skin cracking" as a tagline all we can even assume is that the skin itself is an issue, which like I said was my exact issue, guess my urologist was wrong then. I get wanting to help, but at this point you're just prescribing things with little to no evidence that they would even help. I have no horse in this race ideologically (which clearly you do, and to save you some trouble have no interest in partaking in) I simply recommend that a doctor be consulted, it's your sexual and reproductive health that is admittedly scary but worth taking care of in whatever way your physician recommends, ask for non surgical measures if available and if otherwise just go for it, trust me it's worth it and personally? I have ZERO regrets cheers

You have a yeast infection. Apply Clotrimazole twice per day. Quit using soap to wash your foreskin.

rick887 profile image
rick887 in reply tojimfromcalif

apply to foreskin ? what will that do for me

jimfromcalif profile image
jimfromcalif in reply torick887

It will kill the yeast which is causing the cracking. Using soap to wash is a common cause of yeast problems. You do not need to be circumcised. Apply to entire foreskin cavity, including glans. Athletes Foot cream works.

instead of soap what would i use to clean down there?

jimfromcalif profile image
jimfromcalif in reply torick887

Water.

It would be interesting to know on what basis the diagnosis of yeast infection is made and also where rick887 stated he uses soap?

Mine started up 6 weeks ago from nowhere! Agony at first like small splits everywhere. Tried steroid cream from gp and showered more regularly which kept it at bay but it comes back again and again. A further visit to the gps and citcumsion is the only option in my case. Shitting it for the op getting a consultation soon but a few scary stories out there about botched ops. I need something done soon as sex life is on hold and Im recently engaged.

I would recomend getting the cream and use it 3 times a day and shower more often this cleared mine up for a few months hopefully you will be good after. Always shower after sex or masturbation. do not wash with shower gel just water. Also some foods seemed to make mine flare up... beer or anything starchy. Bloody savage thing hope it heals. Sounds like balantis but this can heal and lead to phimosis.

I’m going to start an update page on my journey to get this nuisance of a foreskin cut off wish me luck

Also avoid bio oil as this caused the slits to heal with a small white layer of skin with looks awful

Best of luck buddy

Talk to your GP about having a circumcision. Stretching doesn't usually work to well and can make matters worse. I was circumcised 7 months and I'm loving it more every day.

jimfromcalif profile image
jimfromcalif in reply toCircedandlovingit

That is false and dangerous information. Stretching uses proven medical technique to achieve permanent results. Skin expansion is used in restoring skin in mastectomy and burn cases. If the technique were not successful, people gaining girth would explode before getting fat.

Circedandlovingit profile image
Circedandlovingit in reply tojimfromcalif

It's false information to say stretching always or usually works, and circumcision is unnecessary. That is why I always suggest someone having problems with their penis talk with their GP. Seems like you don't want them to do that, because you know in many cases the GP will suggest a circumcision.

jimfromcalif profile image
jimfromcalif in reply toCircedandlovingit

In absence of skin disease, stretching has no choice but to work. Yeast will slow it down, but that is treatable. Physicians outside of urology mostly are ignorant of the value of foreskins, so their recommendations are prejudiced.

I've spoken with some very knowledgeable physicians about foreskins, and Urologists who weren't. It was because of the knowledgeable ones that I was circumcised 7 months ago. My foreskin was just a nuisance and always getting in the way. Now it's gone, and the sex is much better. The women I've met since being circumcised, really love the way my penis looks. I couldn't be happier.

You really shouldn’t be posting without knowing what you’re saying. Your claim is false.

You’re speaking for one person. My interviews with intact men over several years have revealed that more that 95% would never yield their foreskins to knives. Glad you’re happy, but that does not make you an expert.
