Urine opening tightens. Please help

Hiya,

I have balanitis tip of the penis is inflamed. Had a circumcision back in February I went to see the urologist again 3 months later and the area where I pass urine is getting narrower. The urologist suggested urethroplasty but this seems like a major operation where they cut the tube underneath the balls and replace a tissue. I can pass urine fine it is just the tip of the penis I think the problem because of balanitis. Of course I seen various dermatologists as well but don't seem to heal. Does anyone a urologist here and thinks this is the right thing to do? I read on internet this surgery is more like for people can't pass urine or dripping.

Are there any marks at your urethra that could indicate trauma from your circumcision? Also is your frenulum still intact?

Hi yes there are marks there and it is more and more inflamed. I have a meatoplasty scheduled next week. I think it is from the balanitis causing the problem no? Yes it is intact

That’s interesting because I have this indentation mark at my urethra too and my frenulum is intact as well. I always wondered where that mark came from. I get constant irritation after every shower at the urethra area. What I noticed is the longer I didn’t take a shower, the irritation completely goes away. I am trying to figure out if maybe our problems are similar.

Not sure man. Do you just having a bath then or how do ypu mean? I actually shower it with strong spraying water.

I was thinking that when I was circumcised as an infant, maybe it got nicked from the device or scalpel

Hi, meatal stenosis can happen after circumcision when the glans dry out the opening can reduce in size. can I ask the reason you had the circumcision was it because of bxo or lichen sclerosus that can be a factor in urethral problems. do you have any discoloration or scarring around your urethra opening.

Hi thank you yes I had both of those. first lychen sclerosus and then that caused balanitis. I have a meatoplasty surgery scheduled for next week. Any other suggestions cure may have for balanitis

Hi Man, if you had an infection there from balanitis your GP might give you some cream, but I suspect it is from the lichen sclerosus hopefully your surgery next week with meatoplasty will relieve your symptoms. Have you had any urodynamics testing done maybe Voiding cystourethrography?

Hi mate, I am not sure what those tests mean but I haven't had anything like that apart from a biopsy last year. There were no further tests at all and I find this very strange. I seen at least 3-4 different gp and 3 dermatologists, urologist I had a biopsy it showed nothing just last year. Thank you very much for your help I look into those.

Slightly confused as I didn’t think you could get balanitis once circumcised. I suspect MrMac’s suggestion that it may be meatal stenosis is more likely and would explain the meatoplasty you have scheduled. I’ve heard that reduction in size of meatus can occur in circumcised males, maybe due to friction and scarring at the tip? I don’t know.

It is redness on tip of the penis looks inflamed. I have a follow up with a urologist next week on a meatotomy surgery I had 3 months ago. Unfortunately the narrowing reoccured again.

Hi yes I had meatoplasty surgery and it was fine for a little while but tightens again and on tip of the penis still red and lookes damaged.

Sorry I had meatotomy surgery not meatoplasty. Basically just had a cut to make the opening wider. That went fine. It was about 3 months ago. But the skin just tightens again.

Thanks for the reply and sorry to keep asking you questions on this. I feel I am going through the same due to LS. I've had my circumcision 5 weeks ago, but before noticed the urethra opening (meatus) with some white/hard scare tissue type of thing forming at either ends making the hole narrower.

I have a follow-up appointment by phone in two weeks and will ask to be seen by the urologist. Thanks for sharing your experience.
