Lost for 60 years
After 40, every year I have a birthday ending in 5 or 0, my doctor requests a full medical with blood tests. So far I have been "lucky" that my mental health seems to be the only concern which we review every 6 months with a new mental health plan. Of course if things change, see me straight away she says.
What's in the plan?
Medication, diet, sleep, exercise, journalling, 🧘♀️, visiting new places in my city.
I am not pretending managing all of this and my everyday life on my own is easy. I have asked for help which was one of the hardest things to do since I was always an independent person 😕
My plan is to make it through the next 13 months to a birthday ending in 5.
How about you?
I tell myself every day to just get up out of bed and hold onto that one percent of Hope that. Maybe I’ll get better today.
Yep. It can be like Sisyphus, struggling to push the boulder up the hill. Good for you. Just joined a gym where I actually do push a boulder up a hill (well, it feels like that sometimes). At least it gets me out of the house and away from my loud, inconsiderate blockpate neighbor, Ed. He'd make Satan jump off a ledge. Gads.
What was your experience with Prozac? My mom swore by it, but I seem to be resistant to most meds and am ultra-sensitive to cannabis (the tiniest amount puts me into orbit and think self-destructively and lose executive function--no thanks!).
Do you take Prozac as one would Xanax, on an "as needed" basis? I thought one had to maintain consistency and not just stop and start. Enlighten me, please.
I agree with the last poster. You have to take an antidepressant every day for it to have any effectiveness.
Hi there. I'm on Prozac too for major depressive disorder and take 20 mg each day within an Abilify booster of 10 mg. It was a game changer for me literally and brought me out of the deepest darkest depressive episode of my entire life that lasted four long excruciating years. I just have a quick question why are you on and off medications? The person that told me to try Prozac said specifically that you can't go on and off Prozac because if you do it doesn't work the same for you so I'm very mindful to take it each and every day and never skip a dose and I'm very diligent because it's made me feel better that I felt in years. I don't think it is the best to go on and off medications as you don't give it time to really get into your bloodstream which takes about 2 or 4 weeks at least. I've suffered with major depressive disorder since 2009 and have been on Pristiq 100 mg was just stopped working and I suffered for years with that during that time I was also on Wellbutrin and tried Trintellix too. I have to say hands down that Prozac was the best for me and worked in such a short amount of time for me. I am hoping that you find a medication that works the way Prozac does for me but please be diligent and take it daily because if you don't it doesn't give you the benefits as it should and if you don't take Prozac daily it's not going to work for you anymore the same way that's what I was told so you might want to think about switching your medication now. Best of luck with everything and I hope that you find peace and well-being during your journey.
I do 60 to 80 mg of Prozac. I can go for a year or 2 then it starts to lessen in help . I go off meds for 6 months or so then back on. It makes me tired all the time . But I'm working on it
