I self harmed for the first time in 3 years

I’m sorry that this may seem like a ramble, but I had a nervous breakdown and self harmed for the first time in 3 years. It feels as though I’m sinking back to the bottom again. I’ve had nearly seven years of full-on therapy, been through CBT, DBT, and have started mentalisation therapy. I’m on antidepressants, mood regulation meds and sleeping meds. I don’t know why this happened, but I’m now stressed about hiding it from my parents, as I still live at home. If they see it they’ll have a breakdown and think I want to die again. I don’t know what to do.

Hi, Thanks for sharing here. It really is OK to not be OK.

When we are in a bad place the world can seem too much, parents included.

Please take your time to recover and then use some of the tools given to you in therapy to improve your mood and help you to see the new day in a different way.

Remember to do some things that feel good for yourself.

If you have crisis plan, check out who you need to call.

Sending you a 🫂 across the ocean. ❤ 🐈‍⬛

Your name says it all. Just breathe!!! Take a moment just to calm yourself down a bit to get yourself back on the right road again. Then you can figure out what you think that you should do with this information. Getting yourself back on track is the most important thing right now so try your best to concentrate on the upside of this not the downside. Try not to beat yourself up over a slight set back or a slip up because that doesn't define all of the progress you have made so far. You said that you haven't self harmed in three years and that's a long time to be free from it so remember that too and try and remember that you were successful at it once and you can be again too. Ok. Wishing you peace and well-being. I'm here if you want to talk.
