detoxing off SSRI

I was first prescribed SSRI 30 years ago, as part of a migraine management protocol. They worked well.

Fast forward to 2023, still on the drug. Felt they were no longer needed, so asked doc for help to detox. She said drop 5 mg every week, for 4 weeks…done.

Well…news to me…the SSRI doesn’t just drop and stop. I have just come thru 3 months of miserable dope sick hell.

My question is, how will I know when my brain is finished healing?

Ive been off since august, and still have periods of dizzy, nausea, instability when walking, brain fog, and flashes of anger and tearful moments.

I’ve been using acupuncture 3x week for symptom management. The shrink wanted me to take Zoloft …hell no.

Any thoughts about how much longer? It’s been 3 months.

personally I would have reduced it over a longer period 30 years of medication takes longer than a couple of weeks. have you thought about meditating or listening to calming music something to help you along the way.
