This was the second time I had run at the Romsey 5 Mile event. Last year it was freezing cold but sunny, this year a bit grey but no actual rain, hooray, and it was definitely a few degrees warmer than the preceding days had been. Took me ages to decide what to wear!
The location was the beautiful Broadlands estate, home of the Earl and Countess Mountbatten of Burma. Two short loops and one longer loop around the grounds.
I was on my own ( SueAppleRun will join me next year I hope!) but got chatting to lots of people. Everyone seemed really happy and excited as was I, then off we went.
I hadn’t quite finished the first short lap when the fast gazelles in the lead started lapping me 🤣 but I didn’t care, just happy doing my own thing and grateful that I can.
When I got to the finish line I was hoping to beat last year’s time of 55 minutes and I did, by 6 minutes! Got the bling which I love, a long sleeve t-shirt, banana, water, chia seeds and amazingly a 6-pack of cup cakes. Very generous with the goodies!
I think I’ve got a daft grin on my face in all the official photos 😜. Shows how much I loved it. Daisy the cat approved of my winnings. Took me while to get a photo of the t-shirt and medal without her sitting on them 🤣

6 minutes quicker than last year? You've definitely got much faster, shows all those lovely long runs make a difference. I will definitely try and join you next year, at least I won't be having any more eye ops 😁.
And to be smiling in all the photos just shows your enjoyment x
Photo bombed by Daisy!! That is an amazing time improvement Mudita! Then they give you enough calories to sink a battleship….oops almost burned my porridge again! Awesome run!!🙂
I’ve only just read about the porridge incident on the other thread (HU is stopping me seeing anything on my phone but ok on iPad 🤷♀️ so I’m a bit behind with the goss) Thank goodness for non stick pans eh?!
Definitely; I did something similar one winter, but with an ordinary pan. I filled it with water and left it out in the snow. It froze over, but all the burned stuff came away with the ice! One clean saucepan….who would have thought (nobody sensible!!) Not sure why HU won’t let your mobile in;I am writing this on my iPhone. 🤔
Thanks Sandraj39 . The cakes didn’t last long. Daisy, and I think all cats, will just sit on anything they like 😆. It did take me quite a few attempts at photographing the goodies 😼
Thank you aliboo70 . You should come over for it next year. Romsey is a lovely place to explore afterwards and it’s only about 10 miles from the ferry terminal in Southampton xx
That does sound a lovely run Mudita11 , and 5 miles is a nice distance for this time of year. Our local runs have been big on Fluorescent yellow this year haven’t they? Nice to have a long sleeve one for a change. Your cat looks lovely too.
