Stop time! It’s moving too quickly! It’s hard to believe that we have only a few months left of this year. But there is still plenty of opportunity for any racing stars out there so let’s see what’s happening next month.
Who’s got an event in October? Tell us here.
It doesn’t matter what distance you’re going for or what country you’re in, whether you’re new to racing or an old timer, we’d love to hear from you. Fun runs, Tough Mudders, obstacle courses, a once-in-a-lifetime event, a virtual race or a regular (do-it-every-year) race, or anything else that takes your fancy. We want to read about them all!
Tell us here so your wonderful VRBs can fluff up the pompoms and wave their support for you on race day.
All you have to do is give us the name and date of your race and a link to the website if possible. We’ll then add you to our spreadsheet in readiness for a pompom cheer the Friday beforehand.
The spreadsheet will be updated continuously throughout October and is a pinned post so you can always keep in touch with what your VRBs are up to on the race circuit.
To those training, good luck and enjoy the build up to race day. Your VRBs are beside you all the way! 😍

🥳 If you have an event any time in the remaining days of September tell us here:
I’m signed up for the series and I believe TailChaser is too ( probably Katnap as well) . Can’t wait for those amazing ‘toad in the hole’ Sunday suppers. Oh and a hill to run up and down…..
We’ve tried so many different flavours over the years but my favourite is still the big pork ones. We have a local butcher who makes his own and they are delicious 😋
Tempo winter 10k series. 5 road runs (one a month October to February) alternating clockwise and anti-clockwise but always involving Ilmington hill. The reward is not a medal but a pack of sausages ( and a lovely hoodie if you do all 5). The meat sausages are made by a local butcher (not sure where the veggie ones come from) and are delicious. TailChaser and I usually make toad in the hole with ours for tea!! I suppose sausage casserole is also an option!
I have a couple of races coming up in October, both of which are being done purely for the bling and in the case of the 2nd one, for the wonderful meetup we always have.
Training has been beyond bad, apart from some 10k races, but that’s not going to stop me having fun at a) The Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 1st October and b) the Great South Run on Sunday 15th October!
Hi Irishprincess I've got this on the 8th October, and am wholly unprepared! Oh well hopefully will be able to just trot round. I got my 10k PB here back in 2018! I'll be at least 10 mins or probably more off that this year . We have relatives nearby so can stay with them and walk to the start. Xxx
I did it a few years in a row when it 1st started (was a 5mile race then) and twice as a 10k, its a good one but not feeling confident this year!!! Xxx
Last time I ran with my boss from work,I egged her on on the 1st half and she egged me on on the 2nd half when I was flagging, she though the finish was earlier than it was so sped up near the end which is how we got our never to be repeated 52.40!!!! 🤣The stadium finish is fun! 😊😁xxx
Thanks all. 🙏 I’m just going to plod along and see how far I get, taking in as much of the scenery and atmosphere as I can. I must admit, the hill at 18 miles is slightly daunting! 😧 Good luck with your races too - I hope you enjoy them.
I didn’t hear or read it from the organiser, but from an aside from the local run club. It’s an estate agent that runs it. Lots of roadworks going on or maybe their lack of funds.
We might get to find out in due course. Meanwhile training carries on 🙂🏃♀️
Hi Irishprincess . I’ll be doing the Ageus Bowl 10k on 8th October which I’ve just read that aliboo70 is also doing! It’s literally (almost) on my doorstep. I will be doing the GSR the following weekend on the 15th. I just love collecting bling 😆
Training has been a bit up and down this time, but hopefully it’ll all come together in the last few weeks. Managed 20 miles today (but only just), so digging deep will be required I think.
20th anniversary cardiff half marathon on the first of october, running in aid of sepsis trust in memory of my dad who we lost nearly 2 years ago to this condition. soooo looking forward to it, training has been a bit hit and miss but according to my calculations i'm looking at wombling round at a respectable 2:45:00, been weather watching and so far fingers crossed it's looking good ... cardiff half is an amazing event with a massive crowd of people running and such amazing and incredible support from the crowd, plus i get to stay down for the weekend and see family ... bonus
A big shout out to anyone else on here doing it this weekend... see you at the start line
ps: i am raising funds for sepsis trust uk if there is anywhere on here i can add a link :/
I graduated C25k in the Spring and since then have built up to a long run of 45 minutes, and attempting a 20 minute speed session every week (plus another 30 minute easy run). So I'm pretty happy with my training. Just a few weeks to go now.
Thank you MissUnderstanding Cmoi and Irishprincess for getting me to post here!
