The racing season is in full throttle at the minute so this is your chance to tell us if you have anything booked in May and, if so, this is where you can give us all the details.
We’ll need the name and date of the event plus a link to the website if you can. This will then be added to our spreadsheet ready for a pompom cheer from your VRBs on the Friday before your race.
We can’t forget about the HUHM and 10K on the 14th May (or any time from then until Sunday 21 May). There are so many runners for this event that we have a separate spreadsheet for it! If you haven't signed up already then now is your chance. Just let Linda know.
Hi IP, these are my booked events for May, I have a big cycle event coming up in June so once I have the HM under my belt this Friday (and if I survive) I switch my efforts back to the bike (with some running as well).
Monday 8th May - I am not just riding but also planning and leading a ride of 62km so members of my cycle club can try and earn the Coronation medal. racethedistance.com/collect...
I’ve two for May, apart from the HUHM. Katnap and I have got the same Walton Hall run as Shake-and-run on the 7th May.
I also have the Tempo 10k Trail Run on the 14th May, which will be my HU 10k. There is also a marathon and ultra option but…naah, not when it includes the same Lark Stoke Hill as the Winter Series and many other Cotswold hills as well 😬 tempoevents.co.uk/events/te...
I’m the doing the HUHM on 21st May cos it has to be done!
There are still plenty of weeks to go to HUHM, it’ll get plenty more mentions yet! I was just on a roll with the playlist with Cmoi, so it was stuck in my head!
Not sure what to expect with Walton Hall but it is supposed to be lovely. I’m not the keanest off roader so two on the trot could be as much as a mental as physical challenge.
Hi IP, could you please pop me down for some pompoms? I’m running the Great Bristol 10k on May 14th, and so is my daughter Jenny. 😀Our numbers are on the fridge and we’re very excited. 🤸♀️🤸♀️
Oh yes, of course, I forgot! I’ll be doubling up that day with the HU10k, and the HUHM the following weekend on May 21st! The latter will need to be a relaxed Jeffing affair due to my lack of training, but my snails will be with me and I’m not missing it! 😅
Vancouver half marathon for me IP. Sunday 7th May. The route looks great, I'm looking forward to it apart from the logistics of a strange city with a spearate expo for race pack pick up and bag drop, and a race start of 7am!!!
Hi IP! 👋Another one here for the Great Bristol 10K on the 14th May, which I will be running with my sister, whilst my OH is taking on the HM. Really looking forward to this event as it was the first ‘big’ run for me back in 2016! (How time flies!🙂) I will also use this as my HU 10K.👍
The holding hands across the finish line was the Bath HM I think - I don’t think we will be doing the same for this one as she is certainly running faster than me at the moment!😳🤣 but yes, I think it should be a good day!🙂
Thank you IP. I’ve signed up to a local run on May 14th which takes in 8.5 miles of trails including newly opened old railway lines with tunnels & viaducts that have been closed for years, all very exciting!
I have also signed up to the HUHM, I was hoping I would run the local race as part of that & keep going to HM distance but the trail course is going to be challenging and my training has faltered slightly! So, I am going to see how I feel on the day and will try to run the HUHM in the week after if I don’t manage it on the 14th.
Pop poms will be flying all over the place in May, good luck to everyone else in your events 😊
I'm off to the Rob Burrow marathon on 14th May in Leeds.
A moment of madness saw me sign up for this last year as only 7777 participants were expected. It now stands at over 12,000!
I will be jeffing the whole way as I'm concerned about getting a further injury. Lots of glute strength work has been undertaken since September. I picked up a knee problem during the Robin Hood half back in September.
I still feel very unprepared and have been having nightmares for the last few weeks about it. Thankfully my partner is running with me and will keep me going.
It’s a busy May for me as the outdoor season finally kicks off in earnest.
I’m back in action again on the 3rd of May. This time at my home track in Brighton where I have entered the 100m and 200m events.
The event is part of the British Milers Club series and includes sprint events as well as the traditional middle distance events.
Hoping for fair weather and a mild following breeze. 👍
Following that on the weekend of the 13/14 May I’m entered in the Sussex County Championships in Crawley. The Sussex Masters Championships are being held within this competition. 100/200 for me.
As a team of 11, you run a leg on the Saturday and another leg on Sunday. Starts at Hampton Court Palace and runs 220 miles around the outside of London, finally finishing in Bushy Park.
We have 3 teams taking part, it’s a mad busy weekend dropping off, picking up from the next leg and working your way around the course. Plenty of socialising, eating and drinking too!
Well, myself and 7 others from our running club are tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on 20th May, which is 24-miles (38.6km) round trip route, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. threepeakschallenge.uk/york... . It was meant to be 6th May but we've had to move it for various reasons.
I am extremely nervous but also extremely excited! We have done a lot of training getting ready for this event, baptism of fire introduction to trail and hill running!. Cmoi has been so supportive with lots of words of wisdom, encouragement and at the beginning did help focus me asking questions about what sort of training prep Id done and was intending to do.
We went to the Peak district last weekend to do some hill climbing, wow that was tough, I had to walk down the stairs sidewalks for two days when we got home!! The pic is the crew at Edale just having a quick 5 minute breather.
Sprained my ankle a week ago (simply stepped out of the car), wasn't even running, but thankfully it seems to be much better and is well strapped at the moment with K tape.
I am definately making a batch of the Power Flapjacks, need all the help I can get!!👊
Wishing you lots of luck for this Hedgehogs123 , especially for a fully-mended ankle. TBH it's just as well that the date got moved, as you don't want to be taking any chances on that sort of terrain.
Hi, I’m going to be taking part in the Liverpool Spring 10k this Sunday 7th May, where I’ll get my first medal (whoop) 🤣. I haven’t ran 10k for nearly 6 months so I’m hoping I make it round and that the weather is kind (but not too warm).
It's a school fundraiser, through a pretty course of woods and cycletrack. Lots of cakes afterward and a brilliant raffle with prizes donated by local businesses. A good morning out,my workmate Zoe is giving it a try and my partners son too! Xxx
