Calling all you wonderful eventers! As the autumn racing season ramps up, itโ€™s time to tell us all about your October races.

No matter what distance or what country you're in, weโ€™d love to hear from you.

Fun runs (arenโ€™t they all? ๐Ÿค—), once-in-a-lifetime runs, a regular race for you, a virtual race - we'd love to hear about them all.

Perhaps youโ€™ve never entered a race before and this will be your first, or perhaps youโ€™re a regular racer and this is yet another date in your calendar!

Whatever the story, tell us about your event so your amazing VRBs can fluff up their pompoms and send loads of virtual support to you for your race day.

Just give us the name and date of your event, and a link to the website if possible. Weโ€™ll then add you to our October spreadsheet in readiness for a pompom cheer the Friday beforehand.

Such fun, such great support ๐Ÿฅณ

Take a look at the spreadsheet here to see what your VRBs have booked so far:

Happy training to you all and sending bon courage for your Big Event! ๐Ÿ€

Hi Linda. Lovely autumnal pic!

I am all signed up for the Great South run in Portsmouth/Southsea (10 miles) on 20 October!! Hotel booked, train booked, and only a hundred and one things which might get in the way of my actually getting there! The bits I can do are done, including being up to my race โ€œspeedโ€ for the distance.

I will be on the look-out for all of the lovely VRBs who usually grace this run! Last time I ran the GSR (2022) we had a fire alarm in the hotel the night before the race, I managed to injure my calf after about 3k (but I managed to stagger round and complete the course) and I almost got stuck in the bath at the hotel. Why am I going back there? ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ. Must be the magnetic attraction of all of those lovely people.๐Ÿ™‚

Haha! I remember all that as if it was just yesterday! I hope you overcome/dodge (as appropriate) the hundred and one potential obstacles because it will, as always, be an amazing meet up ๐Ÿคž

Hello Linda, UpTheStanley and I (plus a few others) are doing the Great South Run on 20th October again. Our excuse is it is on the doorstep and if we donโ€™t do it we will be watching everyone else, wishing we were. I canโ€™t seem to add a link.

Good evening Linda, after my 54th 10K today at the Cumbernauld 10K in a PB time of 67;38 my 55th 10K will be on Sunday October 6th, I am running the 10K version of The Great Scottish Run in Glasgow which is about 13 miles away from where I live, I have been a spectator at that race for many years so I thought it was high time to take part, there is also a half marathon as well, this will be the first time I have ran with thousands of other runners,

Fantastic AlMorr . Get there nice and early so that you can soak up the atmosphere.

A little tip: If itโ€™s like the Great South Run, Iโ€™d suggest taking something old and warm, that you donโ€™t want anymore, to wear after youโ€™ve dropped your bag off. When your race starts, you can just discard it and it will get recycled or used for a charity.

AlMorrHalf Marathon in reply to Dexy5

Thanks for that advice Dexy5, I will wear my London Vitality 10,000 T Shirt, depending on the weather I'll also wear a light jumper under it, hopefully it won't rain.

I got your message on a train coming back from a walk along the seafront at Helensburgh, on the west coast of Scotland, that's the same place that I ran run 3 of week 9 of C25K in June 2018, this morning it was a walk, it did bring memories of that graduation run.

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy510 Miles in reply to AlMorr

Helensburgh is close to the home of Royal Navy Submarines I believe . That c25k graduation run seems a long time ago now doesnโ€™t it?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrHalf Marathon in reply to Dexy5

Faslane about 6 miles north west of Helensburgh on The Gareloch is the home of the Royal Navy Nuclear Submarine Base, you may remember when I ran that graduation run there was a man with that nuclear armanet arrow on his face cheered me on as I turned round about 20 minutes into my graduation run, yes I do agree it seems a long time ago now but never forgotten.

Iโ€™ll be doing the Bath and Bristol Railway Races 10km on October 20th. This was going to be a marathon, then the 25km and now itโ€™ll be the 10km! Covid absolutely binned my training for the longer distances and I donโ€™t want to push it for too quick a build. Still, Iโ€™m excited to run the 10km and maybe even have a go at a fast one (for me!).

Ahh, I'm sorry you had to rein it back for now, but a wise decision and the longer distances will still be there next year.

Itโ€™s the Yorkshire Marathon for me again this year on 20th October. I was a bit disappointed with how it all unfolded last year, so fancied another crack at it. So weโ€™ll see.

Hi Linda, another candidate to add to your GSR list here! ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ

Plus please put me down for my 2nd Cardiff HM on 6/10. Just realised itโ€™s only 20 days away and I had a little flutter ๐Ÿฆ‹ . I loved it last year, and now I know what to expect, Iโ€™ll love it even more this year. Itโ€™s a biggie, so the atmosphere is electric! Mr Cheeky and Flossie are coming to support me this year too (and the GSR again). Theyโ€™re good groupies! ๐Ÿ˜…

Hi Linda,

October is an interesting month for me. For the first half of the month I will be at our home in France, closing it down for winter, and the one race I have in October is in France. It is the Foulee Eymetoise, it is on the 13th October and I will be doing the shorter distance of 8km. This link tells you a bit about it. ahotu.com/event/la-foulee-e... and the photo is the poster from 2022, but you get the idea!! The event starts in the village of Eymet which is where the running group Sandie1961 and I run with when in France, are based. My French running friends say I should be doing the longer one as part of my HM training but I know the terrain, it will be tough with plenty of 'up' and muddy trails, I'm just hoping it will be followed by plenty of down and a delicious hot chocolate. My main aim will be to keep out of the way of the walkers, who are speedier than you think!

Talking of walking, I have 3 sections of the Cotswold way to walk in October. Starting on the 20th, when I am catching up on a section 7 that I missed in July, Haresfield Beacon to Coaly Peak (10 miles). On the 27th I am doing section 10 (the correct one for October) with all the lovely ladies who are sharing this quest with me and 'RJ Fitness and Coaching' rjfitness.co.uk/walking/ Not sure how far it is going (about 10 miles) but we will be starting at Hawkesbury Upton. Then on the 30th I am doing the recce of the November section. I can't be with the ladies when they do it properly so I am going out with Rachel (of RJ Fitness and Coaching) when she does the recce. Rachel has said to dress light for trail running as we can mix up our paces as we go๐Ÿ˜ฑ !!!! If all goes well with these sections of the Cotswold Way, I will be all ready for the final section in December when we will end up in Bath after a total of 102 miles, ready for a dip in the spa and a mooch around the Christmas Market. ๐ŸŽ„

What a lovely way to close out the walking quest, Bath Christmas market is one of our favourites ๐Ÿ˜Š
