I want to say thanks to everyone who signed up to join us for this run. You guys definitely kept me going!!! I put myself down for 10 miles and, despite overdoing things this last week, my legs were recovered enough this morning for me to give it a go. My plan said 12 miles, my head said I wanted 20k, but I was determined it would be at least 10 miles and not a step less!
It was hot, it was windy; the road surface was often poor with either a cobbled surface or a mixture of fixed and loose rock in hard packed and. But at least it wasn't undulating, or steep!
I had to run laps round the place I'm staying, and had hidden a couple of bottles of electrolyte mix on the wall so I could fill my bottles twice as I went past. Mr9389 had kindly popped out on each occasion to encourage me on my way!
It was pretty gruelling, but I made the 20k in the end. The first 10 miles I did in 2h 02m and 42s.

I will update the April participant spreadsheet very soon. I will also set up a new (entirely optional) Strava group where we can share some kudos and encouragement as we move to our April targets and we'll ask for suggestions for a new playlist too. Watch this space.
But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, first tell us how this run went (remember you have until Sunday 2nd March to complete any (or all!) of the distances 5k, 10k or 10 miles)!

Amazing work, Linda! What a comeback. Hoping that means you are totally over the aches and pains now (assuming you havenβt earned any new ones). Do rest and take it easy for a bit!
Haha! My crushed spirit is coming back πGood luck and enjoy that 10k. No heroics in the cold, nothing to catch the attention of the physio ... please!
I am back with my physio on Thursday anyway. I can feel the benefit of the work she did last week.
Tomorrow will be a revisit of the scene of last weekβs drama. I am beginning to think that I should carry an aluminium blanket when I go a long way off piste on my own!

I did the planned 5k, setting out at 9.30 this morning...I wasn't sure I would as I have another cold (so frustrating) and ideally need to be well for tea out with my son and his new girlfriend, but I didn't feel too bad so dosed up and set off!
I wasn't at full energy so did some walking as needed hence the time of 39:36, but I still enjoyed it and am happy to have completed my first 5k of the year π
Now to continue building up with a longer run each weekend ready for the HU10K π
By yesterday, with the first sign of improvement, my hopes were rising. Having said that, I thought it would be 10 miles and with more walking than I did. So I'm pretty pleased.Another cold is so unfair, especially if you are out this afternoon. Enjoy that, it sounds exciting (ai hope you approve of the young lady π).
Extra kudos to you for getting out and doing it. Like me, no one can take that effort and achievement away from you π
I'd told my son I wouldn't risk not attending the meal because of the run, but I couldn't help myself, when you want to run there's not much that'll stop you...if I'm not feeling it at 5pm I'm defo gonna fake it π
She seems nice, I've only met her at the front door for a few minutes so this is the first time we'll be meeting properly...my Mum's coming along too and she's even more of a chatterbox than I am so that will help. Hopefully it goes well coz I've never seen my son so smitten π
Ha, forgot to add my own run. That's if it counts. The thing is I looked at the weather forecast (Saturday - mild with lovely sunshine, Sunday - extremely windy plus rain ) and the pragmatist in me decided on the Saturday, I know, a full day too early. With a skirt to return to John Lewis via Waitrose, what better 'run with a purpose' than to do the lanes which I could easily make to 10k, pick up my free drink then a walk across to the bus stop to pick up the bus home. To say Mr64 came with me is an overstatement, as the only time I saw him in the run was when he went zooming past me. It was a lovely run, very quiet and a very good decision. It's been over a month since my last 10k I've had a few minor setbacks recently, including an 11 day self imposed absence from runs down to a minor injury. It wasn't my fastest run, in fact very slow, but I'm very pleased to have done it with no ill effects. Time 1hr 17mins.
Yay to your first 10k in ages. And, for the record, it wasn't slow!!! And of course it counts. I almost sneaked mine in a day early - my plan said Long run on Saturday - but with my legs still being sore, I took advantage of the extra day πWell done on your creativity, adaptability and the super running πππ
well done everyone. As my planned walk was rearranged and the weather was not as horrendous as forecast I went for a walk. 5.95km, just over the hour and garmin gave me a new badge!
Hi linda9389 , well done on your run, brilliant! Mine was an out and back with my Sunday run group, along quayside & local cycle track mainly- must have been 20 or so of us there . There were options to turn back at any time so I turned at around 5.5km , aiming to finish near my workplace for a coffee, but forgot we'd done a field loop 1st ! Was going round some dog walkers by veering off the path onto the muddy grass ,didn't realise the dog was on an extendable lead and it looped round barking and I slid down on my bum and hands with only 300m to go! Maybe I should have shouted out I was coming round but I did go quite wide. Admittedly my old dog George would have done similar with runners! They were apologetic and checked I was OK, I was fine just quite muddy! So got up and finished the run then went off to amuse fellow group members with my muddy posterior! π€£π€£
Time was 1.12 for 10k , a gentle run catch up chatting to lots of friends perfect for today and great to have a free weekend to enjoy . Lunch next then cinema! πxxx
Ohh, a busy - but very nice - day for you Ali. I do hope you get time to clean your bum before lunch and the cinema πWell done in the 10k, and your generosity of feeling towards the dog walkers. As you say, sometimes these things can't be helped.
