Well, this is going to be a bumper pompom wave weekend as we have a flurry of VRBs meeting up, running up a storm and, no doubt, getting together afterwards for food, drink and merriment. Donβt forget VRBs, what happens on tour stays on tourβ¦. but please tell us all the gory details in your race reports afterwards π
βοΈ So, where do we start? Well, a very good place to start is on Saturday at the Athletics Track in Finsbury Park where our very own speeding hero, Β Β RunBrianRun will be running the 100m and 200m at the VAC & London Masters Open Track & Field Championships. If youβve read Brianβs last post youβll know that he is now the British Champion for 100m M60! We are all extremely proud of you Brian and we wish you all the luck in the world and loads of pompoms for Saturday π π₯³ Hereβs to fast running and even more success for you π€
βοΈ After a well-earned rest on Saturday night the pompoms will need to head to the New Forest on Sunday where we have no less than six fabulous VRBs toeing the start line ready to lap up this beautiful location. The sociable six, in no particular order, are:
@Happyhays who will take on the 5K and then Β Β Dexy5 , Β Β Mudita11 , Β Β SueAppleRun , Β Β UpTheStanley and our fabulous admin Β Β linda9389 are all running the 10K event.
As Dexy says, βthe event is like a mini festival with music, food and sellers of runny stuffβ. With all that and the gorgeous scenery, itβll be a day to remember for everyone there.
A little fairy told me that it might be the very first race event for SueAppleRun and Happyhays. If so, enjoy every single minute both of you and be very proud you signed up in the first place. You are in the best of company with all the other VRBs there π
βοΈ Keep the pompoms flying everyone as we need to go βup northβ next where we find Β Β Jackapoodle and Β Β runningdad joining 60,000 others to run the iconic Great North Run. The atmosphere is apparently brilliant and the rumour is that Elvis will be somewhere on the course so watch out for that! Do you get to sing with him too? π€πΆ
This race is the worldβs biggest HM and we can all watch it on the telly so keep an eye out and maybe we can find our two VRB stars amongst the throng π
βοΈ For their final flourish we need to take our pompoms to beautiful Cambridge where we have Β Β Curlygurly2 taking part in the 5K Arthur Rank Hospice Walk. Apparently the walk will take eventers around seven of this cityβs stunning colleges. How amazing will that be? Such a magnificent city and such a worthwhile cause. We canβt wait to see some photos CG π
Phew!! I think thatβs everyone. Have we missed you? Please let us know.
Good luck everyone π Run/walk with your feet but also your heart and smile for the camera. Youβre all amazing and we canβt wait to read your reports afterwards.

π₯³ If you have an event any time in September and would like a pompom cheer like this one then tell us here:
Good luck Β RunBrianRun ; I wish you a benevolent starter and a cool evening. You have the rest under control. Β Dexy5 , Β UpTheStanley , Β linda9389 , Β Mudita11 and Β SueAppleRun ; you will have a brilliant time I know. Β GTFC and Β Tasha99 β¦give the GNR a good wellying! A tactical term used around here often!! ππ
*Sorry, I didnβt mean to miss off the rest of the intrepid runners!! Pom poms for all!!!
wow!! What a line up! Good luck everyone but specially those doing their very first event . You will be well looked after by the other HUβs, then you will be hooked. And, youβll need to buy a medal hanger before you know it.
thank you Β Irishprincess and everyone. I have a funny feeling that the New Forest run may be a repeat of the Exbury Gardens 10k - very hot and sunny. βοΈπ₯΅. The 1st year we did this it was just the 2 of us from HU but we met the lovely Β Granspeed who was supporting her daughter in the marathon. The event was then was then stopped for 2years by the authorities because of the pandemic . We did it last year and met Β Mudita11 anf OH. This year we have a gaggle of 6 runners , 2 of which will be new meets. What fun.
Good luck also to speedy Β RunBrianRun , to Β Jackapoodle , Β runningdad . Β Tasha99 and Β GTFC at the Great North Run. I hope it will be cooler up north! Enjoy your charity walk around the Cambridge colleges Β Curlygurly2 !
