Our pompoms might be blowing a bit wildly this weekend because we have windy weather here again! We hope it settles down for our racers, unless of course that it’s behind them 🏃♀️🏃♂️💨
⭐️ Update: This race has been postponed due to the weather conditions.
Our first Christmas-themed race is here! A first ever event for RunByTheSea64 who will be running the Otterton Reindeer Run in Sidmouth on Saturday. This is a festive cross-country 10K with multi-terrain through the scenic Otter Valley. Dressing up is encouraged and there will be prizes for the best fancy dress! We’d love to see some photos RBTS and good luck with the running and the costume 😊 Your first event is always special so make sure you lap up the atmosphere and enjoy it all 🤗
⭐️ On Sunday we have our very own speed demon, RunBrianRun , who will be participating in a double 60m indoor event at Lee Valley. Brian tells me that he hasn’t done a 60m event since January last year and he doesn’t like them but his coach has insisted, so, in the usual Brian style, he’s going for it 💪 We’ll all be watching and willing you on Brian 🥳
⭐️ Also on Sunday we have our Awesome Twosome, TailChaser and Katnap , who will be running the Milton Keynes Winter HM. A single lap (I love single laps 😍), traffic-free course taking runners around the scenic parts of Milton Keynes and then outside the city along the Grand Union Canal and through the beautiful linear parks. The marketing promises not just a medal but a “large awesome medal” so we look forward to seeing this guys 🤩
⭐️ A special mention to those of you who are taking on the Great Run Solo Christmas Accumulator Challenge between 1-25 December, Folkylass , MissUnderstanding and Shake-and-run and everyone else who is doing this. Keep them going and we’ll keep the pompoms flying too 🥳
Good luck to every one of you 🍀, have fun, smile for the photographer and bring home the bling 🤩. We look forward to your race reports and photos.
Have we missed anyone with a race this coming week? If so, let us know here and we’ll add you to our pompom cheer.
From your team linda9389 , Beachcomber66 and me xxx
Woo hoo, good luck racers and don't get blown away. RunBrianRun how can you not like 60 metres, it'll be over before you can work out what you don't like 😁. And at least it's inside .
60 metres. It sounds so short it’s ridiculous compared to the distances you expect to find on this forum. Plus as you say Sue, it’s indoors. So what’s not to like? I’ll try and enjoy it 😂
I have been so busy at work I didn’t know there was even a storm expected 😬😅. I best look up the weather for the journey ahead! Thanks for the heads up there Dexy 👍
Good luck everybody, especially those taking part in events. Fingers crossed the storm (with the name both difficult to spell and pronounce) does not impede your progress in any way, including getting there and back. My heart will be with Katnap and Tailchaser, I enjoyed the route of the Milton Keynes HM last year, it was fabulous and away from roads and traffic, but I hope the puddles are not quite as large or Tailchaser might need a snorkel, and both of you mind you don’t get blown into the canal!!! Lots of love and everyone please come back safe.
North East Pom Poms shaking for all of our brave (and slightly barmy runners) heading out into the weather this weekend! Have a wonderful day RunByTheSea64 Katnap TailChaser
RunBrianRun , you have made a sensible choice; the indoor track is good place to be! Your runs will be over before you know it. Remember; the starter is your friend 👍; and last but not least Folkylass MissUnderstanding and Shake-and-run , have a fun run filled December 👍
Thank you Beachcomber66 but sadly my event has been postponed to 14th December due to Storm Darragh! (I have to say I am quite relieved as a 70 mph wind + rain was not looking fun 😂). Good luck to anyone whose event is still on this weekend.
I hate to say it but I’m doing the Great Run Challenge as well 🤣 I really need another medal hanger for Christmas 😂 All the best to Shake-and-run , Folkylass and MissUnderstanding
Thanks everyone and good luck to anyone venturing out this weekend. I think RunBrianRun has the right idea running indoors though.
I’ll try waving my Pom poms this weekend if I can hold onto them long enough!! Our organisers have promised us the wind will have died down by the time we set off…🤔
Thank you 🗣️everyone for your Pom Pom waves and wishes. I think tomorrow I will be doing a treadmill run for part of my challenge as I’m not going to venture outside. Mind you it could all change in the morning weather wise I mean….I don’t think so though.
So far I’ve done 3 walks and one run. However haven’t managed anymore festive photos.
Anway good luck to everyone that has a race , challenge or maybe just going for a run …weather and safety permitting of course. My Pom Poms will be waving frantically 👍🙋♀️xx.
Good luck all intrepid VRBs 💪, the rain and wind just starting here atm. (RunBrianRun you certainly have the best race of the weekend, over in a flash and indoors!)
