So, there we have it. I've just read on Twitter that Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo broke the HM world record by 1 second. One. Second. Kibiwott Kandie ran his HM World Record in 57:32, Jacob bettered it and nailed it in 57:31. Those guys are fast. I'm struggling to cross the line in two hours in a state of decomposure and disarray.

Think Your HM is Fast?
These guys are brilliant, many runners on this forum are very happy to run a 10K in that time.
Iโd be happy to be half as fast as that!
Nope, I know my HM isn't fast at all. There again, speed isn't what interests me.
Also, since I is a girl, let me point out that the women's HM world record is 1:02:52, set by Ethiopian athlete Letesenbet Gidey on 24th October 2021.
Kandie ran the NYC marathon a week or two ago so weโll done him ๐
They are super fast for sure, but itโs their job ๐ Weโre just playing at it in comparison. I suspect theyโre younger guys too, so cut yourself some slack ๐
Two hours! Iโd give my right leg to do that.
My right ankle rebelled angrily when I did that. Had to pause for three weeks and the physio entered the game with some tweaks. Two hours is what I can still do but I suspect it wonโt better with age. Regardless, what those runners do is equally exceptional and inspiring. In any sport there will be an athlete who will set the bar high and thatโs great for the sport, inspiration and motivation (I am still pursuing my dream of somehow covering 75km and 100km distances). ๐
