Hello all, as it says above, on Sunday I will be attempting a HM! I'm getting nervous, so I was just perusing some articles online for advice and I came across this from Runners World...it sums it all up beautifully!! π€£π€£π€£
As race day approaches, anxiety levels go from "normal" to "medium-high" to "I Am on the Outermost Edge of the Grand Canyon Skywalk and I'm Pretty Sure the Whole Structure Is Beginning to Come Loose."
Yup

My preference. I did take jelly babies but did not eat any.. there were plenty of things at the water points, but because I don't really use anything with added refined sugar anyway...I just had water as and when I felt like it Son in law and I did devour two pre-done rolled oatcakes and cheese when we got back to the car though!!!
I had taken some great advice from misswobble ... as I too was a tad concerned re-what to take , because I don't eat things like chocolate or use energy drinks or energy bars. I was fine... but accept that we are all different
Oh, youβll have a blast! I went into town last Sunday to watch the Bracknell Half Marathon finishers. Loads of people down there cheering them on for the last few hundred metres! A line of Marshalls applauding and waiting at the finish line with medals, commentary - the atmosphere was fantastic. I spoke to one lady and she said those last couple of hundred metres were unbelievable. She said she felt like an Olympic athlete with all the cheering and applause. I want to do it next year!
Those nerves will settle just as soon as you start. Keep it steady and remind yourselves youβve trained for this and are READY! Good Luck π€ππββοΈππ₯
How wonderful! Have a great time and savour the atmosphere. Itβs truly amazing, and the energy from the crowds, marshals and other runners will carry you right to the end! And then thereβs the bling β¦β¦. π π
Will do! Didn't quite get the frozen grapes. Hubby had his hip replaced on Tuesday. (He was home on Wednesday - amazing!). I have to admit we've spent more time talking about my legs than his this week π€£
No worries, youβve got this. Just pace yourself as you have done in your training. And maybe try not to change your nutrition and water intake from what has been working for you in training.
You got this Lizcanrun, says it all in your name!!!You've done the training, you're prepared... It's natural to feel nervous, but once you get amoungst all those other runners that will turn to excitement π
Don't set out too fast and run your own race, enjoy yourself.. have a great run, we all routing for you πββοΈππ€ππ₯
