THE WHY

Today’s run was just for me. No HM training or coach in my ear. No reason to run other that wanting to.

I didn’t bother with earphones today and I have been very needy about earphones.

Started when the light was enough to be safe and went to explore a new route. So very beautiful. North Shropshire isn’t exactly well known but it’s flat and extremely rural with miles of quiet lanes. Laden hedgerows and birdsong lined my route and Canada geese flew above in great V formations. I walked when I felt like it and took photos.

Ten miles and a couple of hours later took me home to stretch and recover. So happy with the run- just out to explore and loving it.

You've just described about 90% of my running; it's just me and the open countryside, zoned out and eating up the miles at whatever pace my legs decide to carry me at. Events, races and PBs are great, but running just for the sheer enjoyment of it is priceless.
