Did that just happen???

Went out this morning for a long run. I had a route in mind but no set distance or time. 5 miles in I felt really good, I felt like I could run all day. Then the slow climb home hit me and I finished at just over 7 miles. Ran part of the HM route which wasn't too bad. I think after reading a post on here I'm going to freestyle my training plan. Long run, quick (ish) run and a hill session. I'm feeling quietly confident that I might just be able to pull this off. Happy Friday everyone.....

Well done. Ifmyoumdomthemtraining you’ll be fine on the day. There’ll be no surprises. If is a hilly race then be sure to do hills on your runs. Slowly is good. Really helps with puff, upper body strength, slims the middle 😃💪👍🏃‍♂️

Thank you. I agree that slow is the way forward. I spent too much time after graduation from C25K worrying about my times. Now I focus more on distance. Oh yeah and the hills....😆😆

Freestyling sounds strangely appealing! I have spent so much time wracking my brain over my HM training plan I fear have become obsessed! I have just about got my plan in order now, whether I stick to it is another matter! Good luck with your more free spirited approach! 😁👍🏃

I am not a fan of winging it. The last thing you need is to over-run. If you get a proper HM plan then you can tweak with the days and times to make it fit in with your routine 🙂

Yes I'm sure you are right. Mine is a combo of roseabi's and a Runners World one - tweaked to (near) perfection! 😁

Good. Over-running is my biggest worry since I had the stress fracture. I do just enough 🙂

I saw a video on YouTube (yes I am that sad that I watch running videos 😂) that said that a generic training plan is not ideal for everyone as we all all run differently, have different lives and different bodies. I know my limitations and know I have plenty of time to get ready for the HM. I got bogged down thinking I had to run for a certain distance on a certain day. My new plan is to use the plan as a guide but also to not get so hung up if I don't do exactly what it says. I only ran 2 miles on Tuesday but they were VERY big hills. I hope your training goes well
