I love my treadmill - I did C25k and bridge to 10k on it - I find it a very useful piece of equipment
I do prefer outside, but sometimes it's nice not to have to "go somewhere" to run
I strongly recommend tablet or something with youtube or a film or something if you're going to do long runs, otherwise you'll need to find a mental distraction lol
Yea, I'm rewatching ER from the very start, that should keep me for a while ππ» I just laughed at the possibility of running a marathon on it π€£π€£π€£ The online manual seems to indicate it will just go and go so that would be amusing!
I've only used them in hotels when away from home and have a tendency to run way too fast on them so it will be interesting to see how it is in the comfort of home.
I'm currently re-watching House from the start - his sarcasm appeals
My treadmill has 6 pre-programmed runs otherwise you just start it and it will go til you stop it, I haven't seen if the time goes into 3 digits yet, but it does go over 90 with no problems (my first 10k took me 91 mins lol)
Oh yes House is great. I'm sure that's on Netflix. 4 online has ER from the start just now. There's so many great boxsets, I loved Siblings (9 series) and Frankie and Grace (3) on Netflix.
I think this has 12 programmes. Was reading the manual online but I'm not really one for manuals. Would rather just jump on! π€£
I think that's a great idea, Jo! Keep your legs ticking over when it is also too icy to run maybe? That's the one thing that really stops me running over winter, and it is so frustrating. I seriously don't think it will stop you from your lovely outdoor adventures, so no worries there! I love running in the dark (much to my b/f's horror), but I do live in a town, and run early before all the murderers get up. Plus I stick to the well-lits streets. I agree though, it can be tough some mornings when the wind is howling and the rain is lashing on your window panes. But, I love running when it is cold!
It's just that getting out the door thing, then if I don't I beat myself up for not so it's lose/lose. At least this way I can do it indoors and not give myself a double hard time π€£ hopefully! ππ»π
Ooo that is exciting JoJo! I canβt say Iβm a particular fan of treadmills, purely because I get tooooo hot. π₯΅π₯΅ But Iβll be making regular trips to the gym this winter to grind out some runs when the weather is foul on a Thursday morning which is when Iβm most short of time. Run, shower and go. πββοΈπΏ β‘οΈ π
I look forward to hearing how you get on with yours. ππββοΈπ
It wonβt be - youβll be glad of it when itβs icy/lashing with rain etc. Youβll have the last laugh! πββοΈπββοΈπ¦ βοΈ π₯Ά π¨
MMmmm... still probably wouldn't have space, but could look into it!! At the moment we have my parents old exercise bike in the living room, for maybe the 5 months... and I've only used once for a 5 mins!!!!!!
You've got me thinking now GoGo_JoJo ....I've avoided the treadmill and made myself go outside...I'm going to keep my eye on you and see how you get on with yours x
Well, I've done 3 runs on it so far.. it's not the indoor running utopia I'd envisaged that's for sure... it's so dull!
Firstly there's space. Its huge. It takes up the whole space in our spare room. It would be better in the garage on a concrete floor which was my original plan but there's currently no room in there and I am beginning to think there never will be, hence just buying it anyway.
Second, the noise. The machine itself is impressively quiet but whilst I don't feel like a baby elephant... it makes me sound like one. It is felt throughout the house and I do feel a bit bad for the neighbours and try to think of them in relation to when and how long I use it.
This adds a anxiety level to it which I'm sure reduces the possible enjoyment element.
Going nowhere is so much harder than getting somewhere, however slowly. At least in a gym element you are in a line of other machines, all making the same noise, all going nowhere.
On the plus side, it slows me down so I can do "recovery" miles.
Being able to look out and think that I don't have to go out in that... but I needn't fear it keeping me indoors at this stage! π
I like that line....going nowhere is harder than going somewhere....I can imagine it making the lights, the furniture, the windows..possibly everything rattle in my 150 year old house!! And I can see why that would be a bit off putting, but, like you say, it's only your 3rd run on it so maybe you'll get used to how it feels? I know you like your distances so it'll be broken in in no time at all!! X
Ooo yes, I can feel it staring at you now! I suppose everything has its pros and cons and yes, treadmills are expensive but youβve got to give it the benefit of the doubt...I can sense the gremlins are coming out from behind the sofa!
A bra, shorts, socks and shoes...my window cleaner would be charging extra! ππ x
