Tonight's run was my longest yet - 11Km. It was tough on the ol' legs and I could really feel it at 6K and 9K, but managed to press on through and keep going right to the end.
I am especially pleased when I got back home just 5 mins before Storm Brenda showed up, with her howling winds and horrendous rain. If I'd have let my legs get the better of me, slowed down and walked, I'd be one very soggy mess right now. Instead I'm a sweaty and tired out mess.
Tonight's run also gave me the opportunity to show off/test out my new toys.
1. New Watch Strap. My watch strap had broken, so I've been borrowing my daughter's hair bands to keep it on my wrist. Of course, I really wanted to use that as an excuse for a brand new Garmin, but my frugal spirit and tight fisted bank manager got the better of me (my Amazfit Bip really can do everything a Garmin can) and so I settled for a bright yellow Archer Silicone Watch Strap. I was a bit nervous going for something that wasn't black, but my fashion adviser (the wife) thought it'd be ok. As always, she was right. Let's see how long it actually stays this colour for.
2. Running Gloves. Not something I would ever think to buy myself, but Mrs N bought me some Under Armour Liner Running Gloves for Christmas. I've worn them a couple of times, brilliant for warm up/cool down walking, but found my hands were far too hot when running. Tonight they felt ok, so I'm guessing I just need to make sure I only wear them when it is actually cold.
3. Bluetooth Earphones. Something I've been wanting to get for a while now, but I like my cheap Β£10 Sony wired buds too much, that I haven't actually found a set of Bluetooth buds I could afford that were anywhere near as good. Thanks to a few comments and recommendations on here, I thought I'd try out the MPOW Flame 2 wireless earphones. They sound just the same as my Sony's, and despite looking big and bulky on my ears, they seem to fit just as comfortably too. The only thing I did struggle with tonight was that wire between the two, it seemed to keep sliding round to one side whenever I looked right, so when I then looked left, it pulled tight on my ear. Very frustrating and annoying to have to keep adjusting the wire. Maybe true-wireless is the way forward afterall.
I have a tiny bit of Christmas money left over so about to order a nice new pair of running socks (a brilliant suggestion from Irishprincess ) Of course, I'll be sure to share the joy when they arrive!
