When do you replace your running shoes??? Is it after a certain time or a certain number of miles / Km's? I've had my beloved saucony breakthru 3 since August and they seem to have lost some "bounce". Not sure if it's phycological but they just don't feel like they used too. Advice please.

My running app tells me when it's time to replace them, but I think it was a bit too enthusiastic, so I had to read up on how to extend the life on my shoes. I think I set the life at 800 km. If you look at the manufacturer's website, they should have some information about the intended life of your shoes.

Usually 300-500 miles. Unless you damage them in the meantime.
I think it may be psychological as you have said. New trainers always feel great the first few times, but I guess you start you get used to them.
Of course there may just be something wrong with them. Might be wortth trying on a new pair just to see if theres a marked difference

800 + km seems to be the norm but I'm not sure if this is some way of manufacturers upping sales or whether it really is true. My Asics Gel Pulse 8 have 1000 km + and still feek ok. I bought some new Asics for my marathon just to be on the safe side but when I sometimes go back to the old ones they still feel fine. Maybe it is a mixture of psychology/new shoes magic/some real material science concerning loss of cushioning/ getting bored with your old ones/wear and tear? If you think you need new ones then buy some?

When they fall apart!
I agree with Lordi - get yourself some new shoes if you want to π

Shoes *need* replacing when they wear and stop supporting you, as others have said the usual advice is somewhere between about 500-700km, depending on shoe/form/terrain etc. But it's good to have a spare pair or two regardless of lifespan π

Theyβre all different so do check! I deffo know when My Pegasus have had it as they lose their bungee The uppers can be immaculate though
My Saucony kinvara soles seem to go on forever. I am wearing ones with hardly any upper left π. I save these for my filthy runs
My longest lasting ones were Brooks Cascadia 8. I loved them shoes π
I log the mileage on the shoes when i import a run but I go on go on how they feel
Thanks for all the comments. I think deep down I wanted a new pair and I just needed the justification to buy them. πππ
