I really expected it to be quick, I knew Brooks didn't have Vapor 4 anymore and Saucony didn't do Peregrine 8's anymore but I hoped their replacements would be like for like.

Brooks was relatively straightforward; Adrenaline GTS but I actually went up another size so that will be interesting.

Saucony Peregrine 8 were replaced by Saucony ISO. I thought they were great until I ran in them. The heel cup is different and no matter what I did it slipped on my foot. It was really getting to me.

I tried Brooks Cascadia, Mizuno, Asics Fujiwhatsit, felt like I was running out of options. I've ended up with Saucony Xodus ISO which is still in the Everun range but not before I'd been in and out of the shop trying every trail option sometimes twice with different shoes on each foot and different socks... πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Hope I've settled on the right ones... time will tell.

Those GTS 18s are supposed to be very good.

They feel nice, but they must be a bit smaller somehow as I've had to go up another half size.

I had to go up another half size for GTS19s too jojo. I much preferred the 18s but they didn’t last very long on the mid foot.

That's good to know, I was a bit worried they'd be flapping like clown shoes! 🀣🀣

Yes mine look really big but once I start running my feet do swell and the cushioning around the top comes up higher and inwards in these.

If you know which brand, model and size you like, you can pick up discontinued lines on Amazon, eBay or other on line shops. No need to try them on if you already know they suit you. I've picked up my last 2 pairs of Nike Lunarglide 8s in this way, at a great price versus the shop price for Lunarglide 9s too. Just a thought.

But admittedly it doesn't have the same excitement as going into a shop with loads of shiny new shoes laid out in front of you saying buy me, buy me...

Unfortunately both brands have drastically changed the models so that wouldn't have worked this time. I have done it in the past with like for like. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜

I meant buy the old discontinued models on line. They stopped making my favourites about 3 years ago but you can still find the odd new pair on line if you are patient

Aw no, Vapor 4 were my first shoes! I'm sad they've been retired πŸ˜” Exciting to have two new pairs to put through their paces though. Are the Sauconys a trail hybrid?

I think so, not found too much info yet. They're an older model these I think so probably could have found them cheaper online. Very similar to Peregrine. Just wish they'd stop changing models for the worse! 🀣

Ooh new shoes!! I’ve got the ASICS Fujiwhatsits - my first trail shoes and they were lovely when I took them on the maiden voyage. But then all my runners are ASICS ( 4 pairs πŸ™„ now). I have such orrible feet that when I found a comfy pair I bought it in 3 colours and then trail ones to match

There was something not right with them for me. They were certainly wide but lacked cushioning under the forefoot I think. To be honest I was getting shoe blind! I couldn't remember one from the other after a bit...
