We have a bumper time coming up with stunning routes, diverse locations and amazing VRBs! So, take a deep breath and get ready to wave a whole load of pompoms on Sunday for all our stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐️ The first event is a popular one for our community and one that some of our VRBs have done before. There will be quite the little group meeting (and a virtual hookup!) in the stunning Peak District where Shake-and-run , Sandie1961 Oldfloss and Bluebirdrunner run the Monsal Trail 10K. Cantstopmenow is going further and will be running the HM event.
Traffic free and going through four railway tunnels and across the Monsal Viaduct and surrounded by beautiful countryside, this will be one to remember for our gang. No doubt there will be a meet-up too and cake of course. Lots and lots of cake 😋
⭐️ Joining this band of runners virtually will be lexi6 all the way in New Zealand running 9K with hills in the Porirua Grand Traverse. Enjoy the cake afterwards with the others Lexi!
⭐️ Next up is Petem56 who will be running the Brighton 10K, his first 10K since the 1980s. Pete lost a leg just under four years ago at the age of 63 and he hopes the mention of that here may help others to try and push for their own goals. You are one inspirational runner Pete.
The Brighton location needs no introduction as we wave our pom-poms amongst the sand dunes and sandcastles in between eating ice cream of course 😎
The event promises an exciting 10K on a flat course and part of the bustling Brighton Marathon Weekend. The atmosphere will be quite something and the runners will have seaviews the whole way! And surely that invigorating sea air will give everyone a boost 🐚
⭐️ It wouldn’t be April without something from the Kats and they don’t disappoint. TailChaser and Katnap will be taking on the London Landmarks HM which is set to be the biggest yet at 18,500 runners!
This route covers plenty of historic points like St Paul’s Cathedral and new landmarks this year such as Westminster Bridge, The Scalpel and The Cheesegrater buildings. KN and TC will be raising money for Tommy’s too, a pregnancy and baby loss charity, so an extra incentive for this one. Not that they need extra incentive!
⭐️ From one stupendous capital to another, where 00marks will be running the iconic Paris Marathon, apparently one of the biggest in the world with about 54,000 runners!
The route takes runners past historic sights like the Champs Elysées, from the foot of the Arc de Triomphe towards the Place de la Concorde to the Rue de Rivoli. They’ll then go through the Opéra Garnier, the Place de la Bastille, a glimpse of greenery from the Bois de Vincennes, views of Notre Dame and of course, the Eiffel Tower! Phew! What a journey that will be. If you can, send a postcard please 00marks 😂
⭐️ Our final warrior this Sunday is Comfortnotspeed who will be running the Madeley HM in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, as part of her marathon training.
A new route this year to keep the runners on their toes, the race starts at Madeley High School and goes through some great villages with fab supporters along the way, and finishing up at the school. Oops, nearly forgot to mention the big hill CNS! All these pom-poms and your strong legs will get you over that I’m sure 💪
Well, what a fantastic group of runners! All the best of luck to each and every one of you 🍀 🍀🍀 Have lots of fun and remember to smile for the cameras 😁 even though you might not feel like it at the time 😂 We need lots of race reports afterwards please 🙂
Have we missed anyone? If so let us know immediately and we will add you to our pompom list.
🍏 👋 Monsal Trail Runners go go go! Wishing everyone preparing running or helping with all these super events a fabulous weekend! Yes please, remember the photos and reports!!
Wow! Good luck every single one of you amazing runners. Having loved Monsal HM and LLHM I have serious FOMO this morning! If the going gets tough, run some of those kms for me please - however hard it gets, believe me when I say it's better than sitting it out!
Whether is damp wet uk or the hills of Porirua New Zealand, have a blast and don’t spare the chocolate brownie, Bakewell pudding or whatever fuel you choose. Looking forward to lots of race reports, smiling faces and bling pics 🙂
Wow, what a wonderful crop of HU runners! Massive pom pom waving from here in windy Brittany, tinged with a teeny bit of FOMO as I was originally meant to be joining the Monsal Trail crew. A happy family event meant bringing our holiday forward though, so French inspired pom pom shaking it’ll be from me instead! 🎉🇫🇷
Enjoy, everyone, wherever in the world you are. ❤️
Wow, that’s making up for a few quiet weeks. First of all best of running wishes to Sandie1961 , Shake-and-run , Oldfloss and Cantstopmenow doing the Monsal Trail. UTS and I did this last year with a jolly HU group and loved it.
Also waving pom poms for lovely lexi6 in NZ, 00marks in Paris, Katnap And TailChaser in London , Comfortnotspeed in Staffs and Petem56 in Brighton .
Rooting for lexi6 running with us on Sunday and Cantstopmenow and Sandie1961 and Shake-and-run all the other fantastic runners out on courses this weekend.🪻🪻🪻xxx
Phew!! What an amazing post IP, you described all these runs beautifully. Shows how much I’ve taken notice of our route, I had to look The Scalpel up 🤣
Good luck to all running this week. Despite Katnap and I being in an amazing event this weekend, I’ve got a lot of FOMO those doing the Monsal Trail, as it is a lovely race, in stupendous countryside, Bit of a warning to Cantstopmenow , the HM may come up a little short - it should have been my PB last year! Enjoy!!
Teesside pom-poms and good luck wishes to all of you running superstars....yes you really are. Enjoy the achievement of getting to the start line and running your event. Admire each and every one of you 💚
My first event since GSR in October and I am so ridiculously excited. Good luck to all runners (especially the Kats and my lovely friend lexi6 ). Enjoy the runs, enjoy the bling, enjoy the cake!
Wow what an amazing weekend line-up of runners and races. I’ve had my eye on several of these races myself, mainly after reading about them here. Maybe next year!
Good luck to you all. Pom Poms waving wildly for everyone 🎉🎉🎉 !
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. I’m not racing myself but will be travelling to Southampton to cheer on my Son who is running the marathon on Sunday.
All those races sound amazing! Pom poms waving wildly in the wind here - may it be behind you tomorrow! Good luck all! Sorry if anyone was today I was thinking of waving just in case I missed any!!
Woo Hoo, what a wonderful bunch of runners and races!!!! Hope you have all had a fantastic time, lots of of great goody bags, lovely bling and supported each other!!
Looking forward to all the race reports and pics!!!😁🏅🏅
Thanks for the mention princess, just to let you know I beat my target of one hour and thirty minutes and made it in 1:25:43, followed by coffee, sausage roll and a doughnut 🙂
