After a few very windy days, I went out and did my half marathon today. My legs were feeling nice and strong until I got half way. Then things went downhill . I was still able to run quite well until 14 km, and then walked a lot after that. At least I finished - 2:46 (21.35 km).
As I've written before, I plan to keep up the long runs, and will really need to focus on increasing the distance I can run before having to walk. I've run for 3 hours in the past, so I'm sure I'll get there. I also decided today that I can't do the full coastal route that I've done in the past. Even with most people working from home, there was so much traffic that the 8 km I ran along a motorway was really tiring - I guess my tinnitus makes me extra sensitive. So I'll just have to go back to running up that long hill home again. With months to train, I'm bound to regain my ability to run up that hill. So if mass participation events are allowed again in the autumn, I'll be in better shape to handle the marathon I've signed up for.

Good run for you today, running along a motorway, that is not allowed in the UK, I hope by the Autumn things will be back to normal, I suppose everyone in Norway is in lockdown as they are here in the UK
This motorway goes through part of the city, so it would be more like a UK A road. There’s a proper mixed use path along it, and lots of the Oslo-based races run here, and I always dread it.
We’re actually not on lockdown. Just social distancing. Schools shut, home offices. We did this a week before your lockdown.
We can get out for a walk, run or bike ride and to buy important provisions at the shops, I just got a email from the local authority saying that all public parks are closed to vehicles access but not pedestrians or cyclists.
Well done for finishing the distance - that must have been a long 7.35k! Like you say though, you've plenty of time to build up again for autumn, so long as we can keep getting out there 🤞
I get that. Sometimes, for some reason, the legs/body connection just wouldn't cooperate and we need to walk. I work on it, trying to figure out the best way forward but it still happens.
I ran HM training run for my first 50k and did it without any fuss, without stops or any drink. A week later l struggled and had to stop after 13k....
Then again, we are talking very positive extremes here. We should be very grateful that we can even discuss those runs, let alone complete them. Thank lord we aren't professionals runners......😉
I can’t find the official announcement, but this one works. There’s a live quiz hosted every Saturday at 9 by Vassos Alexander. Go to the parkrun YouTube channel for details.
Well done! I’m doing my distance running 6 days a week, currently less than 1hr a day, as I’m on a recovery programme. But have noticed my pace & endurance has really improved. In a few weeks I hope to have a crack at the HM distance, off road, on trails, with hopefully no-one looking 👀!
