Morning runners, hope everyone has had a great start to the week!
I decided on an unplanned run this morning, didn't have a route or distance in mind. Thought maybe a 15km just to top my January running distance up nicely... Decided to run steadily all the way, no heroics, wanted to average about 6.30/km which is about my cruise control pace. Warmed up after about 3km and had to fight the urge to speed up.
Got overtaken by a young lady who was running at a really good pace at about 7km and really had to fight the urge to speed up!
Again at 10km a fellow runner left me in his wake and I kept telling myself not to try to chase him down! π€£ (Anyone who's read some of my old posts will know I have issues with competition π€£)
15km and I'm close to home, I still feel good and choose to turn off and keep going! The weather is good and conditions under foot are probably the best they have been in a while so I make the decision to go for the HM!
I get to 20k and remember how absolutely shattered I was last time I got this far, literally had nothing left that first time. This time was different, my legs felt fine, my breathing was good and even the uphill section I was on wasn't going to stop me!
Passed the half marathon distance and decided to keep going to round it up to 22km
Very very pleased! Could I have kept going for the metric marathon? Yes, another 4km was doable but I really didn't feel the urge.
Do I want to go further? I'm not sure, I've come a long way in the 4 to 5 months since I started running. I won't say no though as I have a habit of surprising myself π€£π€£
Have a great hump day all and if your running I hope it's a good one ππ»
