Laser treatment

Today I went for my routine check-up. No injection needed, seems to have settled down to every other visit.

The doctor I saw seems to think that laser treatment to my IOL might give me slightly clearer vision. Anyone else had this done?

Hi, sounds like a YAG capulotomy. When your cataract is removed the IOL is placed in the capsule which is your own tissue. This becomes cloudy, and innorder to clear it laser is used. It is painless and takes a couple of minutes.

That is good news. I’ve had 2 sessions of laser treatment and there is really nothing to it. I did find a slight improvement after both.

Good news, long may it continue.

A friend of mine is delaying the laser until she feels its absolutely necessary ( but then she wasn't too happy with the cataract op done by my clinic as she felt they misled her. ). Every op has risks, you have to just weigh up for yourself based on your own vision. I'd have it done if I couldn't read or drive.

Thanks Eyesright. I am far more skeptical these days - I used to take the attitude, that wouldn't happen to me! Now, with only one eye with poor vision, I wouldn't want to take any chances unless there was a good chance it would make a difference that was worth while. This morning, I received the appointment, for Friday this week. It says that it could take between 2 to 3 hours. I wonder what they do altogether? I am nervous, just hope I make the right decision.

Good to see you safely back from holiday - hope you had a great time. x x x

Lol I'm still on hols x

I expect the time includes hanging about. Wouldn't have thought it would be longer op than cataract but no idea really. Try googling it/ utube bound to have a video.

I agree with your caution but I guess there comes a time we run out of options. Best wishes to you when you have it done and tell us all about it! Xxx
