My consultant today has recommended I have laser treatment which she says should mean I won’t need injections as often. Has anyone has this and how was it? Is there anything I should be aware of

Thanks. The consultant was very good and I am having a dye test first to see if my eyes are suitable for this.

Yes I have had laser treatment I have also had the FA dye test with mine it showed ischemia in my left eye which meant I could no longer have injections in that eye. Laser would burn away side vision which is what I have so we agreed not to do that either. The FA will show where laser can be done safely and how effective injections will be. I wish u the best.

Thanks, that is what the consultant has said. I have had Lucentis injections and now having Eylea injections,

They weigh up very carefully if and where to do it as it causes damage itself whilst sorting out the problem. My problem is too close to the fovea so they tell me they won't laser mine as I'd end up worse off. I have brvo with mac oedema , not sure they offer laser for wetmd.

Hi I have had laser 5 times with the Lucentus injection 3 times, plus the implant.. The laser is great it doesn’t hurt but if you do feel it does you can tell her to turn it down and she will adjust it for you. It definitely does help. Good luck and don’t worry about it xxxx

Good luck ..I look forward to hearing what happens as the idea of injections for the rest of my life isn’t great!

I have had a number of laser treatments. They were painless and easy for me compared to the injections where I always have side effects and fear of possible infection, though rare infection complications from injections is not zero. Lasers do not do this, nor fear of possible infection as far as I know. Only issue I had with lasers is dilatation medication leaving eyes light sensitive.I am able to go back to work after lasers unlike injections where I cannot function for at least a day or so.

Good luck with you laser treatment.
