I am anaemic and my ferratin level is low and I am going to have my B12 tested. Is there a connection between PA and auto-immune disease?

Anyone have Pernicious Anaemia?
I have been told that I have PA as a result of my SLE - apparently it inhibits the absorbtion of B12 through the stomach lining. So I have a B12 injection every 3 months to counteract this.
Definitely yes.
I had a problem a couple of years ago where I lost all feeling below my waist, including internal (waterworks etc). They eventually realised my B12 was horrendously low and they said that was the reason for my being like that. I now have B12 jabs every 3 months and blood tests twice a year to check that it is being absorbed or the same could happen again. One of the docs looked at a couple of his cases when he diagnosed me and informed me that he had 6 other cases with varying Auto Immune problems and he had never realised before that!
Thank you.... this could be another one to add to my list!!! Apparently my ferratin is grossly low... although this is probably nothing to be proud of
Worth getting your thyroid checked and a Coeliac Disease (ttg blood test). Both are Ai and linked to things especially PA.
Pernicious anaemia is often the precursor to rheumatoid disease.
My thyroid levels are normal.... about the only thing that is!
Yes - I have B12 injections... Xx
yes I was diagnosed with PA about 5 months ago and had a course of 3 injections a week for 2 weeks to bring the levels back up and now have B12 injections every 3 months xx
