My dentist has told me I need 4 teeth repairing at a cost of £2000, and that a futher 4 will need work soon due to lupus and sjogrens. To be honest I would rather have dentures, but I have hughes syndrome as well so not sure if this is possible. Anyone else in the same situation?

False teeth anyone?
I am so sorry you are having problems with your teeth, I too have sjorgrens as well as SLE, I am lucky enough to have a very understanding dentist (NHS) he has a friend who has the same problems as me. I do go every 3 months to have flouride painted on and I also use Duraphat toothpaste every other day, (this you can by from a dentist or a good pharmacy.I do find this helps. I do sympathise with your dilema, but believe me you dont want dentures, I wore partial dentures for 30 years until I had bridges and crowns fitted ,even more reason for me to look after my teeth. If I was you I would try and find NHS dentist to take you on it would be cheaper in the long run and there are some good ones ask around your area.I do hope you get them sorted .hope this little bit of advice helps.Take care.
Speaking as a recently retired dentist I think the above advice from Skid is excellent and could not agree more.
Thankyou for agreeing with my advice ,I was a dental nurse and a practice manager for 14 years, the rheumatologist and docs dont always explain to you about the fact of sjorgrens drying up your saliva which can cause tooth decay so I`m sure you`ll agree it is important to keep an eye on them or we``ll all be walking around "gummy "as well as loopy (Ha! Ha! ) we have to keep smiling.!! Skid.
Thank you both for your advice, I am now even more shocked as that was my NHS dentist !!! Think it might be time to get a second opinion.
