I feel like I’m constantly asking questions lately, so I apologise if anyone is bored of me.

Does anyone have problems with their teeth?

In the last few months iv had problems. I had two fillings done a couple of weeks ago and last night another one started falling apart. According to my Dentist I should have been fine for another 6 months.

I just wondered if anyone else is having this problem?

Is it part of Lupus or medication?

Thanks

Hi, I'm not sure about Lupus but I do know that you can have dental problems with Sjogrens.

I was initially diagnosed with SLE but was informed last week that I've more than likely also got Sjogrens and one of the things he said was to be sure to have regular dental check ups.

You're welcome 😊 x

I had this problem a lot when I was younger but I started training myself to breathe through my nose instead of my mouth as I’d always previously done. This was due to a dentist telling my youngest son that his mouth breathing was the reason for his poor teeth compared to his nose breathing older brothers.

It’s not always possible if my nose is very congested of course - and I do have Sjögren’s as my first disease so my nose really gets painfully dry with sores and bleeds now.

And maybe all the dental problems are due to having had it for so long - but I do feel that changing from being a mouth to a nose breather has saved my remaining teeth from much worsening decay.

Hi Tinkerjack1912 ,

Many people with lupus and Sjogren's have problems with their teeth, mostly as a result of a dry mouth. You can find some tips for managing dry mouth and protecting your teeth in our blog article here - lupusuk.org.uk/dry-eyes-and...

Ask your dentist or doctor to prescribe Duraphat 5000 - it is superb for protecting your teeth at night. It sounds like you might have Sjogrens as well. Read the blog articles on here. Try also the Sjogrens website BSSA.uk.net very good advice on there. Good luck

Tinker jack I think that it can be related to the treatment

None of anyone’s comments are boring, we share many symptoms and I think they would feel empathy with your situation in some cases or at one in other cases. This all helps us work out what may be wrong with us or give us ideas on how to approach problems that Rheumys or Dermos etc have little experience or knowledge of. Good luck Melbourne Girl 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
