There is an article in today's Daily Mail (page 29) that is interesting. It mentions that research shows that heavy snorers "face twice the risk of arthritis. It mentioned ankylosing spondylitis and lupus.

Hello, every time I have a nasty lupus flare on my skin it leaves quite bad scars, does anyone have any ideas as to what I can use to help heal the scarring?
Hello I have just been prescribed methotrexate for my sle/dle, I am already on preds, mepacrine, under active thyroid tablet.
Anyone any experiences of methotrexate?
Methotextrate is a broad spectrum drug, which is why the medics tend to try that first..... however, it doesn't suit some people and can cause very upsetting side-effects.
After 5/6 months on it, my legs swelled up with a very painful cellulitis (awful burning sensation and scarring). Also had to be taken to A & E with severe stomach cramps...the SHO recognised this as one of the affects of Methotextrate. I refused to take it anymore.
As the others have said - there are alternatives to this. I have been doing fairly well on Plaquinel and an NSAID. Still haven't quite got the symptoms under control, however......I guess it takes time!
i was prescribed methotrexate be careful with this as it upset my liver and was told to stop taken it right away all the best
I know some people have been okay on Methotrexate but it did not suit me at all and badly affected my lungs. I am much better on Mycophenalate Mofetil (trade name: Cellcept) which i was put on after. Hope all goes well for you, but just to let you know that there are alternatives
Re Daily Mail article - it also has a link saying "Beating Arthritis is all in the head". Mmm no wonder we get short change from our GPs!
